Why not have a history/politic forum!
To discuss history and politics what do people think!
I voted for Yes "(but a history forum and a separate politics forum)"!
Please discuss!

The OT covers politics quite well (some would say it does it too well)
That said, I think that a seperate history forum is a good idea. IMO the OT moves too fast to allow historical discussions and such a forum would fit in well with a site dedicated to what are essentially historical games (except for SMAC )

History forum would be great I've been a strong advocate of this ever since I saw the counterpart on CivFanatics but the mods don't seem to like it

we have Off-Topic, so we don't need Politics/History
Forum. they are interesting subjects of course.

It would become like the Off-Topic, with continuous pitched battles between pro-Israeli and pro-Palestinian users. Why do you think I hardly go in the Off-Topic any more?

This is exactly why I would want a history forum (and not a politics/history one). Flame wars, trolling, etc are much less likely to happen in a forum dedicated to events and people which are already dead and buried...

The primary purpose of Apolyton's forums are to first cover the gaming titles that Apolyton covers and related titles (e.g. "Alternate Civs / Other Games"). History/politics are off-topic discussions and will thereby continue to be discussed in the "Off-Topic" forum.

What you need is an auto-compressor that smashes all ME threads into one big thread.

Why not just smash all the Middle East threads?
You know you can bookmark the individual threads, right?

Sure I do, but I'm trying to avoid them, not read 'em. Avoiding one is a lot easier than avoiding 30.

Nah, what I meant is to bookmark the ones you want to see so you don't lose them to the deluge.

It's always people who have no idea what goes on within the OT who suggest these cacky ideas. There is nothing wrong with the OT. Besides if you start fragmenting everything it gets very hard to keep an eye on how everything is going on.
