Modem to Modem? - Old but Brilliant. :)
My mates live in the same city as I do, of course; so considering the fact there are so many 56kers out there, wouldn't it be wise, to include modem to modem, so that I too can play a decent fast game of Civ3?

I have tried CTP in net games, its still too freaking slow. I've played many games on Modem to Modem and it's the most solid connection I have come across, even LAN seems to crap out more often than Modem to Modem!

Yes, modem to modem would be nice. I wouldn't have to be ashamed of my poor connection.

Yes modem to modem is needed. I got a cable modem. It will prevent and weed out modem players from playing with the high speed connection players. Theirfore ppl with cable modems, dsl, etc. will have to worry less about the lag of those 56kers and 28.8kers.

As long as there is an option for a Network game, you can do Modem to Modem using dial-up networking. Thats how I played my buddy down the block in Civ2. That is, after Civ2 MGE came out. Before that we used a hex editor to play it on one computer.

Modem to modem would be nice, although I think they should concentrate on the other ones first, and how do you play modem to modem using dial up networking?

One person sets up to be the server, the other, dials that person as if they were a ISP. Once connected, that little icon appears in the lower right of the screen and then you load Civ2 Multiplayer, and choose Network Game. Although Microprose included "Dial-Up Networking" in the menu, I found it faster, and easier to just use Network as the choice. You don't need to enter any IP or anything.

I can't believe people have forgotten how to do this, I've been doing it for years.
