Well, that was just the hypothesis that there might be no system.
"B.A. bachelor of arts (includes foreign language classes)
B.S. Bachelor of science (substitute computer languages or extra math and science clases for foreign language classes)"
So Bachelor ~ Matura.
I think what I meant earlier is better described as undergrad - grad ?

I have an Arts degree. Music was my major. I didn't want to teach music but do something else with my vocal abilities. So now I work as a secretary. Sometimes it depends on your specialization field where the Arts are concerned. For me if I wasn't going to teach music then I was limited to what I can do.

You're the best trolls in the world; that's why you are the only ones allowed to rate them. An American troll can't hope to match the sheer audacity and arrogance that characterizes the best European trolls. You guys have made it into an art form.

The only reason Euro trolls are better than American trolls is that Americans actually believe what they are saying, and thus find it harder to sit back and laugh at the ensuing chaos.

Of course, the ironic thing is that, as an Economics undergraduate, Mr. Spink here is completing... an arts degree.

Mr. Fun, I'm going back to grad school this fall to do a PhD in political science. I applied to the Univ of Iowa and was at their recruitment weekend in Iowa City back in March. That sure is a beautiful town, and cheap too. I decided to go somewhere else, but I think about U of Iowa often.
And things don't look too bad financially either. The average full professor at a private institution makes $98,606. I think, with book royalties and speaking fees on the side, that's a liveable income.

I am going to a liberal arts schools
as such my degree will be a BA and I will have taken all the associated courses
but I have taken more physics then the majority of (maybe even most) BS Physics majors at universities and as much math as the majority of BS majors in university
a BA just has to take a few more classes (like the ballet I am taking now)

"full professor"
Even with a phD 't aint so easy to get full professorship...
In Canada we have professors that have hung around a faculty for years and years before getting full professorship.
BTW, my faculty here at Western (history) was very clubby, very old fashioned.
They were hiring the first full professor in 26 years (last year). Of course, there are always some politics going on, the Admins had decided that the old boys were too white and too male, and so there were 2 real candidates: a gay Asian and a woman who specialized in Indian studies; the Asian guy was severely handicapped in the teaching department, but produced a lot of paper in research.
Anyway, on of the final things the they do in the process was teach an actual class already in progress for one day. A few of the old faculty hacks snore through it, but it is actually really important, they want to see what the potential prof is actually like on the job.
Not to brag, but I was considered something of a good history student (considering my job was at the faculty for the last 4 years) and some of the old boys actually seemed to value my opinion, pretty rare for undergrad. Anyway the old dean and my boss invited me over for a nice Port, and I made my glowing recommendation.....the awful Professor Tanaka! Instead of the passionate and good-classroom mannered girl....
Tanaka was hired, because of 'postive student feedback' (I was the only one to say anything), the girl was not....
Why? Because I really, really wanted a Japanese history course where I could watch Kurosawa movies....
On such things turn careers...(btw, Tanaka turned out to be SO incompetant that they are actually thinking about beginning the firing process, he won't go gracefully and he doesn't fit in)

YEah, opera singing.
Except I'm not a tenor, I am a baritone.

Baritone means he's not man enough to be bass and doesn't have enough self-confidence to be tenore.
Are you famous? Do you earn millions a week?

Old saying: A baritone is halfway between a tenor and real man.
Actually, I studied as a bass in college but my voice began migrating upwards a few years ago, so am readjusting it to baritone repertoire
Tenors are like small children, they should be seen and not heard. They're more often that not like screeching cats.
Baritones, IMO, get the best opera parts. We get to be the villains! The basses sometimes do as well, but not as much as the baritones do. We have an ability to snarl that neither tenors nor basses can match.
Of course, there are a lot of fake baritones, who are really just tenors too chickensh*t to sing the really high notes. But to be fair, their are also a lot of fake basses, who are really baritones with the same complex and who also want to be more manly.
Dumb, because everyone knows baritones are the butchest in all opera. Just ask Baron Scarpia!

I'm world-famous in Bensonhurst, NY.
And I earn in the six-figures weekly. If you are counting in pennies.

I'm going to graduate with 2 BAs (History and government), and I will have plenty of employment options, especially after I go to law school.
A law degree, 2 BAs, and hopefully a Master's or Doctorate in history - plenty of job opportunities, ranging from academia to law to consulting/analysis to government service.
