Scenario conversion from Civ 2
One preview has mentioned that Firaxis is considering ways to enable the conversion of scenarios from Civ 2 into Civ 3. I am absolutely delighted by this idea and I am sure most scenario makers will be too.

Yeah, it's a nice feature, but won't this limit what civ3 will be able to do in some way...if it's got to be backwards compatible to civ2?

Well I nominate Red Front, Harlan's Mongols, and that one about Aztecs. They are the 'Best of the Net'

No it does not, at least as long as you don't want to be able to convert Civ3 scenarios to Civ2. The only thing required is that the same settings or equivalent settings that existed in Civ2 also exist in Civ3, and that the converter sets any new settings to be accurate with Civ2.

or maybe just a separate program which would turn the scenarios into Civ3 format, to be able to finish the upgrade adding more stuff Civ3 will be able to do...

From what I gather, they aren't going to make the civ2 scenarios directly playable, just are going to convert a number of them. maybe I'm wrong.
keep up with those nominations, try to see that the best of them make it.

i think your wrong. i think it will be if you load a civ 2 scenerio as in civ3 it will just instantly convert it into the new graphics and stuff which will work as long as civ3 has equivilent units. whihc is also very exciting cause if you can do that than you could also probably play civ3 save files.. that would be great. and then after you load you could get acces to all the new stuff in civ3..
