CTP2 Server Kit?
A friend of mine is interested in hosting a CTP2 server. Is there an official (or semi-official) server kit that he can download? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I honestly don't think there is one. A skilled programer could make one buy some how getting a copy of the server files (which to my knowledge no one but Activision has) and installing it on his computer. All of his players would then have to update their server.dat file to include the "new server". Of course some one could always transfer over the LAN files from CTP1 and install them, via slic, in a CTP2 folder.
I think the second option is the more practical.

The newer servers.dat files have servers that don't seem to be activision-owned... How did these folks get a CTP2 server running? Or are they actually activision affiliates of some kind?
I'm all for this idea of players hosting their own servers...

I think it's safe to rule this one out.

Sounds like this might get us a little closer to a player-hosted server! Any ideas on who might have those files and be able to help with the set-up?
Thanks for the help, Oerdin!

Another question did you ever considered to ask Activion about this issure. They should know if it is possible and if they want a fan created server.

I guess someone could always send off an e-mail to Activision and find out what there offical stand is reguarding this issue.
