my guess is they will release some kind of MP in a patch.Certainly not all of them, just one or two.
The rest you will have to pay for.

About radar towers: Any chance that these will have the ability to shoot down aircraft? Or are they just passive detection?

I would imagine they are probably just passive detection. That would kind of defeat the purpose of having jets patrolling the skies!

The radar might be passive, but we can only hope enemy aircrafts that are detected by the radar triggers your waiting fighters ;-)

			markg,
i guess the one thing that i would have liked firaxis/infogrames to do differently was inform us that they were going to charge us for multiplay/editor near the time of initial release.

have you guys done a poll on the level of satisfaction on how firaxis/infogrames releases information?

I am so pleased with the announced description of the XP. I suppose they are going to try and hit the Chritmas market. Nice to see them supporting the product so well. It was a long wait between Civ2 and Civ3.
PS. Civ3 exceeded all my expectations. |

i think that was as obvious as that sky is blue starting from the fact that if they were going to do the opposite(offer it for free) they would be saying it(or better, shouting it) in a every single way possible |

Not to any offend anyone, but you must have been in complete denial if you actually believed that there was a chance that MP would become available through a free downloadable patch.

If MP would be a downloadable patch, then who'd buy the XP?

what i meant was just 1 form of MP ( for example PBEM)
this could be released in a free patch, that way they would 'honor' their promises. any other you would
have to pay for

wich to me seems reasonable
this is NOT insight info btw, just my 0.02 cent
looks like i just added a hitpoint to my name

That would be a very honest and honourable thing to do on Firaxis' behalf. Congratulations on your promotion to Warlord.

Well I for one welcome the new expansion pack, and hope it improves on Civ3beta in every department.

I'll wait, but not with baited breath

I'll most likely wait until the first or second XP patch is released before I'll but it. I got burned once with the [cough] Finished release [cough] Beta that I Prepayed for (after reading about the MP that was going to be with it). I had even purchased a more advanced computer so that I could play it (I got a really good deal on a PII).
I'm not really blaming anyone with what did happen, But I will be VERY CAUTIOUS if/when I do decide to get the XP. I payed once to unknowingly be a beta tester, I won't do it again.

Hi,I view the question about paying for MP this way:

Is Civ 3 (with the latest patch) worth the money I spent on it? Yes

Will PtW be worth the money I probably can't stop my self from paying for it (Firaxis/Infogrames-people: Ignore this post :-) )? Probably another Yes

So I have no problems paing for MP (and that other stuff) just like I have no problems paying for any other stuff I buy if it is worth the money.
