The new colloseum is opened to the public. Citizens are streaming in from the many gateways, passing (and sometimes stopping) for the delectable snacks offered within.

Sense them as you walk by… Smoked cuts of meats wrapped in herbs, vegetables fried in wheat coatings in flavored oils, fresh fruits for juicy eating. The owner on one stall presents a mix of quickly stirred veggies and meat in pastries, another proclaims the benefits of wines with herbs. Do you want sausages? They are here. Do you want poached pears? They are here also. Try the temptations of the booths as you approach the seating areas!

The opening card is a lion versus a tiger! Both are hungry, angry, and ready to strike out. Now the cages are opened and the beasts emerge. They hesitate, unsure of how to react to all the humans surrounding them. But they finally see each other. They can focus on each other, that part they understand. OH! The attack is horrible! They leave each other bleeding. Neither is familiar with the idea of another predator, but they do know anger. Trapped within the confines of the arena, they have little choice but to fight for life. And Oh! The Tiger has just landed a slashing blow to the lion!

They circle each other know, roaring and snarling. The tiger senses weakness in the oppnent and goes in for the lethal atack. But the lion is a social predator, and sees the start of the charge. It twists around and strikes the throat of the tiger with a flashing swipe. The tiger is down, blood pouring from the throat. The lion waits patiently, though the clowns are trying to drive it to attack! No matter, the tiger has gasped out its life, and the lion reigns supreme! It is encouraged to the pits by the tossing of a bloodied captive as bait. Oh that has been exciting.

Now for the main event… Hydey and adamsj are led into the central ring. This should be a good fight folks, they have been fighting each other for a couple of months. We expect some real bad bloodshed from this battle. The contestants circle one another warily. Hydey has the short sword and small round shield, while adamsj has the traditional net and trident! Oh this will be a classic…

Hydey starts to circle to the right and adamsj counters to the right also. They are both moving around in a circle, testing the defenses of the other! Hydey tries a verbal maneuver, insulting adamj's parentage. Adamsj retorts in return about Hydey's mental capacities. This is getting evil, folks, I can hardly bear to watch! Hydey responds with a question about adamj's experience as Foreign Minister! Adamj winces as if struck. Still, the kid is not down! He comes back with a question about Hydey's absence the past 10 days. Ooh, this is a cruel match, and they haven't even come to blows yet!

Yikes, it changes rapidly. Adamsj tosses his net, which Hydey nimbly avoids and then Hydey hurls his small shield like a weapon. It catches Adamsj slightly on the head and adamsj reels from the shock. Dazed, adamsj suddenly swings his trident and catches Hydey off-guard! Hydey is down! Could this be the end? The adamsj net could finish things now, folks, and he prepares to cast it at his opponent. But Hydey imitates a worm and rolls away. What a fantastic escape!

Hydey wins points from the judges for his escape, but adamsj made him have to escape, and that is worth points too! All seems even as the deadly pair relax for 30 seconds between the 2 rounds. Supporters of both splash their heroes with waterand wine and offer words of encouragement. Folks, I've never seen a match like this one. It's incredible!

Well, the gong is struck and the battle resumes. Both opponents rush to the center of the ring. They circle to the right. They circle to the left. They hurl epithets at each other. Then they circle to the right again and they circle to the left again. This is sure one fearsome battle. And, um, they circle to the right again. And they (yawn) circle to the left again and they circle (yawn) to the right. They (yawn) feint a few times.

(a few hours later) They feint again and circle. Oh will no one end this madness, nothing happens, neither of them is able to launch an effective attack! Oh the boredom, Oh the inhumanity of the waiting in the hot stifling stands.

Well, I see the last spectator has downed his last pine-flavored wine and left the stadium. It looks like both the contestants will survive to annoy each other another day!

But wait! What is this? A huge Banana has entered the arena. It leaps between the foes and peeling in the direction of both, enwraps them! I can't believe this is happening (and neither should you). The Banana seems to have them both immobilized and is choking both. This is unbelievable! It looks like the end for both Hydey and adamsj, folks. The Banana casts Hydey to the far south end of the arena, and adamsj to the far north. It seems to have its way with both of them. I cannot believe this is happening! The Banana goes over and slaps Hydey around for a bit, then runs over and does the same to adamsj! Then it runs to the center of the arena and dances around. Oh it can't be happening! A Banana has beaten both Hydey and adamsj in public and without mercy...

The Banana exits the gates in triumph, leaving the hapless duo bloodied and whipped! Truly astonishing…Supporters of Hydey and adamsj bear the beaten pair out of the colosseum by opposite gates!
