Civ3: PtW Logo, price and availiability
1) attached is the first Civ3:PtW logo as it appears on civ3.com
2) internet store listings such a long time (several months) before the release are almost always wrong, but here goes:
Amazon says $34.95 and December 31, 2002
EB Games doesnt even have the name yet but still says $29.99 and November 26, 2002
so, trust noone but this is what we've got right now

You should live in Norway: There we got Civ3 in less than amonth after release, IIRC.
The price seems good, especially if the last is right! And I like the logo.

Glad they put eastern Asia in their logo. In their maps, they usually tend to be too America centric for my tastes...
Oh, the presence of Korea on the map... Maybe we'll have the Korean Civ in ? (speculating)
(Mark, we really need a (speculating) smiley

Excellent idea! Couldn´t we chip in for a copy, say 1$ a head and the one who buys it puts it on KaZaa for the others to download. Here´s my buck.

Hey guys, remember the fiasco with Civ2: MGE? The release date was pushed back nearly every day, until it was finally released like months after the expected date. Lets just hope the civilization team learned from that and that same thing doesn't happen with again.

True, but even though I'm not supposed to listen to those, I do. And therefore develop unjustified anger.

Hmmm, I've been away for a few months, so maybe I've missed some nice discussions. But I think it's a ripp-of anyway, just because they (firaxis/infogrames) 've been boasting about this "exciting multiplayer stuff" for ages before Civ3 came out.
All those months some folks on Apolyton were forecasting the MP features would be an add-on instead of a feature of the original edition. When it wasn't they were hoping for a downloadable add-on.
But no, behold the dollarsigns in ones eyes...

Definately a Kazaa download here. Unless it comes in the half price bin in the warehouse's boxing day sale.

Boxing day is a civilised tradition in any truely civil country. It is observed throughout GB and the Commonwealth.
It is the day after Christmas when we go out and spend money like mad on humongous bargains.

Ah yes, now I remember. For some reason this "holiday" is on our calendars as well, why, i don't know, guess all english speaking white guys are the same when you're being paid 5 cents a week in a sweatshop in the Phillipines or Taiwan.
But I digress.
Would they have something that's only been out a month, already severly marked down?

Sick. And not just you.
[rant]Frankly, I can't stand people who are too ****ing lazy to get off their **ses and work for what they use . Especially when they simply ignore the legal system, which was put in place to keep this incredibly unjust and unfair world from becoming too unjust or unfair, just for their own personal enjoyment .
I seriously hope Firaxis makes an incredibly tough verification system, to stop moochers and piraters .[/rant]
Personally, I think $30 (~$45 CD) is quite a good price. That's about how much most XPs are going for these days, and PTW has a lot more features than a lot of XPs I've played or seen. It even has more than SMACX, which IMHO had a lot.

hi ,
even the talking about some "unlegal acts" can lead in some countries to a lot of problems , so , ......if there is evidence , ...in the form of a displayed message , .... , ......
the reason that most companies have to ask more for their product is in 75% due to illegal copy's , ......
so ya want something cheaper , start with yourself , the individual player , .....
have a nice day

I'm still not quite sure if Civ3 is deserving of my money. SMAC was, I'm still playing it now
