New SMAC PBEM - Blind Research turned ON !
Yep... you read the title correctiy - blind reaserch will be TURNED ON !
SMAC only, (that means not SMAX), the more players the merrier... We'll also need a CMN if anyone's interested...
Parameters:
Factions to be assigned randomly (that means be prepared to play any faction, including the, Believers/ Morgan)
Huge world
Medium to lots of ocean
High erosion
Lots of clouds
I'd like lots of native life, but we'll see.
Transcend level
And, of course, the ever popular Blind Reaserch turned on.
As this will probably be a 7 player game, people should be willing to commit to pushing out turns on a regular basis (that means often). This is done In order to keep the game rolling, and make it interesting for everyone involved.
Should be an interesting challenge. If you think ya got what it takes - - sign up below...

Hey KK, I'm in. Sounds interesting, as realistically, discoveries are usually by surprise anyway.

I know factions are random... but any chance you could rig it so I get the believers?
No seriously, I'm in, but i'd prefer average native life, not abundant.

Currently moderating ASPK II. So if you want I could CMN this one too. One question; since it's all random (faction) then how important is it to land far away from others?

Hey all,
May I suggest we start off with 1 or 2 extra colony pods and scouts to speed things along. It really helps make the early game turns more interesting, especially on a huge map with lots of ocean.

I would play, but not as Belivers (the crapola research bugs me too much). So the random faction dons't do much for me. The rest of the rules look fine to me though, I don't mind blind research.
(ALTHOUGH, if AHAC2 dosn't start in a day or so, I'll be willing to play eitherway).

Patience... Patience, friends...
This setup will be well served with seven factions if possible. Do some recruiting of your own. Tell your friends about this.
No doubt there will be a lot of heavy negotiating in this game. Now...would you rather negotiate with another person ?
Or the AI ?
Lets give it another day, or so... It will be worth our while.

I'm interested , although with a huge world we could be facing 30-40 turns between techs in the early game.

welcome jpj, that's why i suggested we start off with a couple extra pods and scouts, to speed things up. it's worked wonders in my other pbems, while the ones that only start with two pods, are extremely slow.

I play my turns regularly, smhfan86 can patch for that.

My emails is comstar@optushome.com.au btw. And Im fully suggest SOMEONE check the random setup (to say, prevent Yang starting in the Jungle while Morgon starts off in the desert for example).
And a few starting pods to speed up the game till we meet would be nice.

Hokay ! We got 7 players.
I'm discussing the setup details with knowhow2. Things that we're working on is the exact size of the map. An extra colony pod or two, and a scout patrol. Plus probably a unity foil. The only thing thats really up in the air is the native life question... so lets hear from everybody on this one now.
Stay tuned hear for updates...
Any questions don't hesitate to mail me... krysiaskrusader@sympatico.ca

Setup looks nice. Random factions is a great idea. Abundant native life is OK with me. It provides some extra challenge, especially at the beginning. And it treats Gaians fairly. I think SMAC factions were designed to play in abundant native life environment anyway.

I'd prefer standard native life, as having abundunt would unfairly give the gaians, an already powerful faction in their own right, a huge advantage.
they already get a free army from capturing mind worms, but with this, they'd get even more. also, it'd slow down the progress of the game for everyone else.

With ai involved I generally prefer standard native life, but seeing as this is 7 human players, we're all gonna be on a similar platform, except for the gaians and miriam. I say abundant is fine... super fine if i land deirdre
