um, i think we're starting again, so that Nomatter can have his rover.
also, i think we should all start off with our faction's basic tech, because that's a part of what makes each faction unique. also, it'll speed the game up that much more.

The game turn stoped when I got it last Teusday at 23:40 GMT. I haven't opened it yet. Due to the game starting before we had all the settings and parameters worked out. The only person that's played, has been smhfan86.
If you guys would read the posts... ... We're waiting for the Spartan rover to be reinstated...
Knowhow2 said, that he won't be able to do it till he has some free time. In any case, it will require a restart.
Therefore... the game has not started, and I don't see how the turn can be with Shai-Hulud (?).

Ok, I see, we'll wait a couple of weeks then, np.
Just in case Knowhow2 reads these posts , could you make sure I get Morgan's 100ec bonus as well as Ind. Base ?

so is everyone getting their normal starting tech? if that's the case, i ask that we not start with a former, as that would diminish the gaians starting tech.

Game redone and sent to Smhfan86.
Standard Rules except for do or die ON
Every faction starts with 4 colony pods and 2 scouts (Spartan 1 scout 1 rover) plus a transport foil.
All faction starts with their specialties (UoP didn't get to choose the second tech - sorry about that).
All victory conditions ON
Rules ? (your own choice)

How's about the rules at CGN for PBEM ?
smhfan86, JPJ, comstr, you guys should already be familiar with them. What do you think ?
As for specific rules particularly applicable to this game :
No communication between players at all, until you acquire thier comm. link, or have a unit next to his.

01 to kk. thanks again kh2 for setting up the game.
oh, since it's blind research, i think that's why UoP didn't get to choose the second tech.

http://www.civgaming.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=700
Restrictions - general gameplay:
- A player may not restart a turn without good reason. The player should specify the reason in the game thread if he was not able to avoid reloading the turn. (Obviously, if a player has suffered some sort of crash during a turn, such a reload is unavoidable)
- A player is not permitted to establish contact with another faction prior to having met them in-game.
- If a player performs a probe team action other than to infiltrate against another player with whom (s)he is in a treaty or pact with, they must inform the probed player what it was they did and what they stole/sabotaged. They must also choose the 'declare vendetta' option when they perform the action.
- A player is not permitted to make more than one social engineering change per line, per turn. For instance, one is not permitted to start the turn in wealth, switch to power mid-turn for the extra disbanded minerals, and then switch back to wealth that same turn, getting the refund.
- A player is not permitted to use the 'demand withdrawal' feature against another player, leaving the AI the decision of whether to withdraw or not.
- A player may not accept a bribe from another player's AI during council sessions.
- A player may not perform multiple airdrops in a single turn with the same unit using the right-click menu.
- A player may not use the F4 screen when infiltrated to change an opponent's workers to specialists.
Contentious issues
- A player may not insert stockpile energy into the build queue after the production of a military unit. Due to a bug in the game, should you put stockpile energy into the queue, you will get the benefit of the extra energy on the same turn as production of your military unit.
- If a player declares vendetta upon another player, either directly or indirectly, they must not accept a pending diplomatic agreement between the two factions in the same turn.
- A player may not upgrade a particular type of unit using the design workshop, and then attack with that unit in the same turn.
- A player may not make air drops using the right click "air drop to" function, when it is not possible to do so with the "i" button, ie. after already having moved or made a drop.

You probably don't believe this...but I'm having some problems with my file. Other ones worked well so I'm not yet sure what's wrong. I'll keep you updated.

Oh, this was a SMAC game . Funny. I got this error message saying that I lacked virtual memory. But, smart as I am, I got an idea. Why not to try the classic game?
Turn 2101 sent to JPJ.

02 to kk.
note: has kk(yang) explained why he performed 2 extra save/loads? as i know it, it's required you post why on this thread, like any other game.
also, i've noticed no one has changed their name in the comm link. just go to the menu on the left side, go to network, and customize faction.

HEAH ! mfnsha68, that was the night I tried to load the game several times when I didn't have my password.
I'm surprised it only came up twice !
Besides... YOU were the FIRST to KNOW about it. I e-mailed you about how frustated I was. Remember... ?
Following is the e-mail I sent to Shai- Hulud (the player I send my next turn to ) :
Hi Shai-Hulud,
There should/might be a few warnings... I forgot my
password, and attempted to open the file at several times. Out of
curiosity, let me know how many there we're.
Good Luck,
Krysia's Krusader
Anyone can ask Shai-Hulud to forward his copy of the message. I was just so happy to get the turn done, that I forgot to post it at the thread.
And... by the way, mash68nf, why are YOU asking ?

that's odd. i thought the game only recorded the save/loads, if you've successfully loaded the game in the first place.

Yeah so did I...
However, when I got my password off knowhow2, and started to load the game, a message came up saying that I had already played the turn (!). I was very surprised, since it was the FIRST TIME that I had been able to even load it ??? I'm assuming, since it wouldn't let me out of the password screen till I had hit the esc. key several times, that this was the cause. Another thing might be that, I had tried several times ( maybe 6 - 8 ) to enter a password that I thought (hoped) might be the correct one.
That's the best that I can remember.
So... again, why are you asking ? You play 5 players after Shai. Does the screen appear to everyone in turn ?

Yes. The reload message appears to every other player in the game.
Once you get to the password screen, the game flags that you have loaded the turn, even if you never actually open it, be it because of failing the PW requirement or because you esc out for whatever reason. Any subsequent time you get to the PW screen, the game will record a reload.
I keep a notepad file on my desktop with all my PWs. In the event I get to the PW screen and find I've forgotten it (an increasingly frequent occurrence! ) I simply hit the Windows key to the desktop, open the notepad file and refresh my memory. Saves having to explain reload messages.

good idea mongoose. i actually have an actual notepad, not the windows kind, right on my desk. became a necessity once i started joining a ton of games. i even list who i'm supposed to send the turn to as well, cuz i tend to forget those.
