Need a few opinions...
Hi all,
Im just about to start a game on marlas world map, monarch difficulty, 16 civs. Im concerned about the sheer size of the map - although my system should handle it, im thinking about editing naval units movement, adding 2 move points to each ship type. Has anyone found this to be neccessary, or will I be ok with standard movement? And if i edit subs to take 5 cruise missiles, would the AI also be able to take advantage of it?

Thanks for your thoughts

Forgot (derrr) - What about the corruption? I was thinking about sending it down to about 40% but not to sure

Cheers!

I set corruption in the editor to about 50% for all difficulty levels.

I also made ALL modern naval units treat all terrain as roads, this greatly increases their range while keeping the older sea units limited in their speed.

AFAIK the AI will take advantage of the subs w/ 5 missiles, but I haven't yet used subs in that fashion, so I'm not certain.

Yes, increase sea unit movement points!

As for corruption, up the optimal number of cities, make courthouses cheaper.

The biggest drag on your PC will be the AI turns. I recommend changing greenland and siberia to mountains so that no cities can be settled there (maybe leave the coast tundra). Move the few oils elsewhere on the map. I've found that doing this reduces the total number of AI cities by about 80 - all size 1 or 2 towns of no value other than cultural borders and war booty.
