Its a game site because the persons who made it and own it, wanted it and want it to be a game site. When they want it to be schnitzel recipie site then it will be a schnitzel recipie site.

For many years we didn't even have avatars, let alone custom ones. Its a reward for 32 years loyal service (and in some peoples case spam).

The precursor to Poly was real "bulletin" board where people would hand write messages and leave them on a noticeboard for all to read.

Back in the day when Mark and Dan were college roomies that is.

Sometimes predominately non-gamers will discuss gaming matters, and certainly the reverse is true.

Will we go out of our way to make non-gamers welcome by offering additional services than the Off-Topic forum that cater primarily to non-gaming interests (and the chat room could be used for this purpose as well, not that that is what it is intended for)? The answer is no. However, will we go out of our way to make non-gamers unwelcome? Absolutely not.

Dan; Apolyton CS

I have played civ for years and I still play Civ3 (although sometimes I wonder why), but there's not a lot about Civ that I want to talk about.

So I'm a gamer who is being treated like a second-class citizen because OT posts don't count.

And what's the big deal with letting OT posts count? Seems to me the only difference is that people with a lot of post counts can get their own avatar. That avatar signifies they are part of the community. So am I not part of the community just because I'm on the OT? Would it kill you to allow me to have my own avatar?

HAHAHA You think this is a democracy?
thus it´s important to have class diffences at Poly as well. But since Poly is owned by Markos and Dan they can pretty much do what the **** they like

But I agree with you, OT post should count. Or another wild idea; skip post count alltogether and let people choose their own avatars

Anything that would make panag a second class citizen (preferably a quiet one), get's my approval

Besides the annoying incomprehesible drivel, he makes me just want to rip the period key off my keyboard

I completely agree. I can't stand the poor sentence structure and the terminal "have a nice day".

But he probably has poor english ability. Maybe he will improve over time as paiktis and Ecthelion have. Or maybe he's just an imbicile...

I even didn't know they removed that one-year-rule...
when did this happen?
I remember it well, it happened about a month before I had been on poly for a year. Reducing me to spamming in Civ3 spam threads (about such topics as Spam and increasing post count) until I got to 500 posts (I seem to recall it took me about a week to get 150 posts - which is about 20 times my usual post rate)

After all that blood, sweat and tears in the spam threads I'm still using the standard Fusion Engineer avatar. Go figure.
