Missions? We don't need no steenking missions ...
Yeah ... go for it Anunikoba ... steal those cars and kill those innocent civilians!
I've got GTA3 for my PS2 ... it was a really fun game for a while, I still load it up every now and again when I feel the urge to go on a killing spree.

Yipes! Won't be long now, and I'll be totally obsolete...

I already am obsolete .... *sniff* ... if I want to buy any of the Next Big Thing titles from the summer onwards (Neverwinter Nights, Morrowind, Warcraft III ... etc ...) I'll have to upgrade my system and I don't think I can budget for that with several thousand pounds of student debt.
oh well...
at least I can play GTA3 on my PS2 ... and Final Fantasy 10 comes out this week so that should nicely ruin all my exam grades.
When I fail my exams I can steal a few cars and go on a massive murder campaign throughout GTA3 ... the city in the game doesn't have a University, though, does it? ... shame ...

I've been slowly 'upgrading' my computer as it breaks down, so parts of it are obsolete while others are up to date.
My sound card, which has some conflicts with direct x8.1, is stoping me from playing alot of the newer games.

I need to do the core upgrading (motherboard, CPU, RAM) soon. I am noticing how much the swap-file is in use with these newer games because I only have 128MB of RAM.
Plus its a 100mghz FSB system, which sucks. But what's worse, is my CPU is an overclocked Celeron 566- got it running at 850, which means I am at my limits for OCing.
I've had my eye on a P4 1700 for a while, with appropriate mobo and RAM; its economical, even though this hardware is even considered only mid-range stuff.

How is the handeling? PC seems too... clumsy to do a driving/fighting game like this.

I find the PC controls (keyboard/mouse) to be just fine. It took me a little time to get used to a driving game, but I am doing fine now.
I can't imagine a PS2 gamepad is better for control.

I've never really found console controls to be easy.
But then, I'm biased towards PCs.

Same.. My home PC is getting a bit long in the tooth, and I could get a console for less than the price of an upgrade.
But then again, with games like NWN coming out, I think i'll just spring for that parhelia...

This game is awesome.
It runs perfectly on my PC, even with anti-aliasing and 1280x920.
A bit too addictive though.

You think so...ever since I got the game, I haven't even had time to play Civ3 Or any other game for that matter...
The game is just awsome, it's just annoying that controlling the guy (when walking) is not the same as it used to (in GTA and GTA II), it's too difficult to control him, with the keyboard, you have to change to mouse
But I like this new map style, I just got to island two last night...
And the best thing of all, it uses the Graphic card most, so even as I have a P3 500Mhz I can still play the game in 1280x1024x32, just because I have a GeForce 3 TI200...thank God I bought that card a few months ago
Anyway, gotta go kill somebody

Yeah, one of my underlings has been talking about this game all week. He said that the PC controls are much better than the gamepad especially on sniping.

But the things you can do are amazing...i've only finished 2 missions, but i've been playing for three hours straight...just finding out what i can do...

I got this game, and it plays pretty lousy on my PIII 1Ghz, 256MB, GeForce 2 Go (w/32MB RAM) machine. Is there anything I can do?
I have played much prettier games much faster than this game is playing. I strongly hope that there is a performance improving patch released, since I've already checked and I can't return it.
Or is there something I can do? I read about a Safedisc "patch" for Morrowind that improves performance by reducing the CD drive "paging" (or whatever), and GTA3 is always using my CD drive. Anything I can do like this fix?

try fiddling around with the video settings, a friend of mine has a amd 1600, and geforce 3, but the game was sluggish at start, after changing some settings (forgot which one) the game runned smoothly on 800x600

One way to increase perfomance is by setting trails to off in detail settings...

Yup, that's what I had to do. I've had to set near all graphic things to a near minimum, but it still looks pretty good. I like the Taxi Driver thing

Yeah, it's cool Would be cool if they made a MP mission (When they make MP) were you had to get as much money as possible, and the only way to get money was by driving the custumers...Of course this requires that there shouldn't be people everywhere who needs a cab, but only one-two person in the city who needs a cab I believe that would be great in MP games

Try downloading a no-cd crack from www.gamecopyworld.com
Dunno if it will improve performance though
