Can you at least ANNOUNCE these things before you go full steam ahead, Ming? Threadjacks have always been part of the OT's appeal. It's how conversation naturally works. Ditto with Spam and Copycat threads, really, but I get my fill of that elsewhere. Why this enforced sterility? Long live the Organic Off-topic!

It was Rich and Stew arguing over who had the least life the other day. I still have a copy of that thread saved on my HD taken before you deleted it, hilarious stuff.

Why do spammy, trolly and flamy threadjacks get deleted where serious threadjacks (that equally well remove the original topic of conversation) are allowed to stay?

A couple of factors come into play.

First, somebody has to see it

Second, if the stater of the thread complains, action is usually taken

Next, it depends on the threads. Some threads just naturally evolve to a new topic, and isn't really considered threadjacking.

Plus, some threads just die on their own, and threadjacking actually keeps the thread alive for awhile. Again, as long as nobody complains...

It also depends on the level of it... If a single thread here and there is getting threadjacked, and nobody cares, why should we.
But when it becomes "the next game to play", then action is taken until it gets back to the normal level.

Well... in this case, it would be one of those where the starter of the thread doesn't get a say in the matter.

About my thread - it was partially serious and partially a joke.

More an attempt at fun.

But I thought that the most that can happen is that some people will notice the double meaning and give answers which can be read both ways.

Obviously when Dissident started discussing his **** in a serious fashion, I foreseen that this won't last long.
