I found an error in a post. The last post I made brought up the Spaceship victory quote from Civ I. It said there were 1,000,000 people on the ship. That is incorrect. You could only have 10,000 or 20,000 or 30,000 or 40,000 people on board. Each "Habitation Module" you built added 10,000 people to the ship.

Where are those SMAC quotes? If there's a problem with them do tell.

There're just too many ways to waste time in modern society. It's no wonder that all the great novels were written before the advent of television.

That's one of my favorites. All the literary ones and whatnot are cool, but they're a little long for the "Post has been added" screen.

Not exactly Civ related - but we have Zen quotes, which, given the Mathematical provenence of the original database probably came from Godel, Escher Bach. So I thought I should suggest:

To every w-consistent recursive class K of formulae there correspond recursive class-strings r, such that neither vGenr nor Neg(vGenr) belongs to Flg(K) (where v is the free variable of r).
-- Kurt Gödel, Proposition VI, "On Formally Undecidable Propositions in Principia Mathematica and Related Systems I"

Chowlet, that is not only a mathematical quote, but also one that is used a lot in AI Philosophy. In that respect, it is more or les Civ related.

You might want to edit your message to end with a '%' though, or it won't be included.

I've seen stuff that's even less Civ-related than that, though. There're some pseudo-philosophical things in the databse about why life sucks.

It's mentioned in the one where Kirk and Luanne Van Houten (Milhouse's parents) break up at the Simpsons' party. Afterwards Marge is talking to Homer, and she says, "Those North Korean fortune cookies were so insulting. 'You are a coward.' I mean, nobody likes to hear that."
