How many consecutive times can a poster be elected to the Council?
Just a clarification of how long someone can stay in office.
The options are self-explanatory (=number of consecutive terms). If someone is not in the Council for a term (=one month game time), their number resets to 0 until their next "in" term. If there is no new candidate for a position, someone who has reached their limit may take that position (we DO need to keep things going here! ), but where possible we get ppl who haven't reached their limit yet to be Ministers/Prez/VP.
Terms as VP don't count to the limit, whether they are second-place in the President's poll or are appointed by the Prez.
Also please vote in my other poll.
You have two days for both.

4 time in a row seems to work fine, but...
Prez, VP, and High Council should ALL be subject to the same limits. A VP exemption to term limits is subject to abuse. How come we're not polling THAT???????
Not that you'd do that, MrWIA

Why ? Is not he a member of the Cabinet ?
I think we regularly talk of an exception for Historian, whose task is particular, and a unique style may benefit to the quality of our glorious history.
... and our "petit lapin" do the thing well, without competitor !

it does not apply to the VP because they have few official duties and are appointed not elected

I think the VP has to be included in the term limits. The Historian is not a member of the Cabinet, though, and should be exempt.

I think the VP should be exempt, cavebear, merely for the reason that the VP can be appointed by the president- and is truly not an elected official- therefore he is exempt from the labors of office.
-
as a side note: Just wondering, if the president is incapacitated- does the VP take over or do we have a new election?
If the VP takes over, perhaps we SHOULD limit him to 3 elections, if the doesn't then perhaps he should be able to be elected indefinately.

As it currently stands, DC, the VP does take over until the next election. This has happened once, and I don't think too much that was bad came of it (although I haven't seen former VP/Prez MBloom III here since then... )
Looks like we may need to decide whether or not to add the VP to the term limits... I didn't think there would be that many outspoken for it! It isn't that huge an issue right now, so if there're enough vocal supporters for making the term limits universal, why don't we just make it so until someone has a problem with it, or until the situation is reached where it matters if VP is to be counted or not, and then poll?

Damn. I guess I didn't make it clear enough. This is for how many times you can be in the COUNCIL in a row, the other one is for how many times you can be in the SAME POSITION in the Council in a row.

Oh, I see. Thanks.
I've already voted on both, but I forget what I voted for.

Actually, looking at the poll- 'I don't think the issue of the VP will matter- 4 terms is leading by a lot
