Small Wonder suggestion: FBI
For your consideration:
A suggestion on how to cope with late game corruption.
With the discovery of Communism, in addition to the Intelligence Agency, there would be another small wonder, the FBI. This small wonder would function exactly the same as the Forbidden Palace. This would solve the corruption problem in the late game sprawl of cities, but corruption would still remain a problem for farflung cities.
I know it is probably too late to implement in a patch, but who knows? Anyway, what do you think?

Exactly, we, that is the US in my case, have the FBI. The old Soviet Union had the KGB. I'm sure every nation has its own version of a national police force.

I would rather have the KGB small wonder. Your secret police open fire on any demostrating mobs, thus, no civil disorder.
Seriously, why is there no equal to "nerve stapling" in Civ3 where you can force the masses back to their jobs (the lazy jerks).

FBI?? If they are as incompetent in the game as they were before 9/11 who needs them? But if the director is Gillian Anderson it might be worth a look.
I always wanted a Broadway or Hollywood wonder for increased revenue and happiness.

let's add MORE american wonders to the game... great.
some of the wonders should be generalized... the "pentagon" should be a military academy of some sort, etc...
*note i am american*

I agree, you yankees always want to americanize everything, There are 16 civs in this game, and one big aspect is that they all have/ had their own culture. no need to give them all those american features now. I still feel akward when i make the babyloniers buil the manhattan project, or when the aztecs research advanced flight.
I am still waiting to get Ronald McDonalds as a great leader

An FBI small wonder (not to mention a few more American examples) would be interesting.
But they should definitely be generalised. You could call the FBI, Secret Police. You could call the Pentagon Military Headquarters or something (not entirely sure here). The Manhattan Project could also use a more general name, and be made into a small wonder (which only allows YOU to build nukes, not EVERYONE), but I'm not sure of what it could be called.
But wonders like the Hoover Dam and SETI program are fine the way they are.

Shhhh, Solver. The city razing a la Jenin is already implemented, that's enuf.
On topic: It would make some sense, but I doubt that any new wonders or even buildings will be patched in. That's what the XP's are for from now on. Maybe somebody takes it as a suggestion for those, although the odds for this are marginal.

I don't mind the wonders to be called the Manhattan Project and such, but what bothers me, is the movie when launching the space ship, on the side it says: USA

The space race victory movie definitely needs to be more generalised. I mean, no writing on the ship, no crew faces (unless behind heavily tinted glass and unrecognisable), no talking from them, or mission control.

Why no talking? Just imagine that it's being dubbed.
USA should definately not be on the ship. I didn't notice that.

As far as I know, the FBI is not a secret police force.
Basically, it handles crimes (criminals) affecting more than a single state. The European counterpart would be Interpol.
The KGB otoh is the Sovjet equivalent of the CIA. They are already in the game.
As a wonder in the field of policing, I would however prefer Scotland Yard (the USA equivalent would be Pinkerton's).
Now, why the CIA would lead to a decrease of corruption, is beyond me ....

Having a secret police force is interesting, maybe some combination with the spying activity. I agree to the point made that it should have a more general name than FBI.

I already do something similar. First, at Communism I added a new Great Wonder:
KGB
Acts like the Great Library except it doesn't expire until Integrated Defense. A bit more expensive.
(I was thinking more of their overseas spy networks than their "Secret Police" sections)
And, I have 4 different Forbidden Palace-type Small Wonders in the game.
FP: at Philosophy, costs 300, Industrious (not Religious any more)
Taj Mahal: at Theology, costs 400, Religious, and you have to have a Cathedral in the city
Statue of Liberty: at Industrialization, costs 500, Expansionist, and you have to have a Harbor in the city
Arc d'Triumph: at Motorized Transportation, costs 600, Militaristic, and you have to have 2 victorious Armies.
You can tweak these a bit, but it REALLY changes things.

FBI would add corruption but increase production simultaneously. After all the FBI puts people in prison in record numbers and prisoners become corporate slave labor. Also, the FBI is an extremely corrupt organization. Just my take on it.

Well, I never said it had to be called the FBI. It could be called Col. Sanders Imperial Secret Chicken Inspectors for all I care. I just thought that the modern age needed a second forbidden palace type structure to combat the corruption in late game sprawl.
Thanks for the feedback.

I think a modern small wonder along the lines of secret police would work great if it:
Acted as a FP
AND
Reduced the cost of spy missions

IMO, a secret service shouldn't decrease corruption (ever heard of a secret service fighting against corruption?), but I like the idea of cheaper spy missions together with a bigger chance of success.
To decrease corruption in the late game, I'd prefer another small wonder like e.g. something related to free press, tv, etc.

This is a good idea for the name of the small wonder: Scotland Yard.

I'd prefer if it was called RCMP Headquarters. Great idea for a small wonder tho!
As for the Apollo Program, It would be neat if your country's name was on the side of the rocket, but then they'd also have to change Manhattan Project to "Paris Project" or whatever.
