Thanks SG.....
For starting another game and inviting me!
So here goes:
Ms. Mercatia took her reign in the year 3250 A.D.
Scouse Holme began building Colossus.
Mercatia rushed to build a warrior for a sense of protection.
Straybow switched to building a settler the mayor was insistent
something called infrastructure?
3200 A.D.
With a soldier in town Mercatia started building a chariot.
The people have rumored of huts nearby.
Mercatia also called up Emperor Hammrabi and gave him a stern
lecture about sending no less than two of his savage warriors
across the borders of straybow. Lucky for me he apologized and
left! Whew!
3150 A.D.
Our Scrolls have learned something called Pottery. So Mercatia
put them to work on Monarchy. So someday she may be know as
Queen!
3100 A.D.- 2950 A.D
Nothing happend so Mercatia drank Margaritas and layed on the
beach!
2900 A.D.
The annoying Emperor Ham called to show off his knowledge of
map making.
2850 A.D.
All was quiet so Mercatia hung purple drapes in the palace.
2800 A.D.
The scrolls learned Monarchy so Mercatia put them to work on
Writing. She then began a revolution and was kidnapped.
Hopefully she will be rescued so she may rise again another day.

Great work, Mercatia - leading to:
Lesson 1 - The oedo cycle - changes of government can only occur on every fourth turn - at Deity in the early years this falls on evenhundred and fifty BC - unfortunately, by Revolting in 2800 you have sentenced the Scousers to the maximum 3 turns of Anarchy -- not a disaster from Despotism, but it might have been at a higher level of government
Please feel free to totally ignore this old fart's ramblings
SG[1]
p.s. (added in edit) and thank you for picking up and turning round the game so promptly

I was forgetting it was for 2.42
I have the cd-rom somewhere but can't find it now and reinstall the game. I shall join later, when I have reinstalled 2.42
Next player then ...
Me without 2.42, it's like siberia in winter without a mantle
Is this the spirit of the "goulag" ?

Would it be bad form to play in 2 succession games at once?
If so, sign me up anyway. I just posted the first 10 turns in Fearless's Game #1, so there's no reason I can't muck up your game too
I gather it's SG[1], Mercatia, and Messer Niccolo so far... ?

No only until 2650BC - or more accurately you revolt as your last action in 2700BC -- in an ideal world - with a level of micromanagement that I don't even aspire to - you get the message about discovering a new form of government would you like to revolt when the turn counter says 2700 (for some strange reason 2650BC if you are playing MGE) and you say yes - then only the cities that report after that city which caused the discovery are effected - really cool

And here we go!
2800 BC: after Mercatia has been kidnapped (or after she is back to the beach ScouseHolmes drinking margaritas and pina colada ) the cities are in revolt... well the government goes into Anarchy.
And, because we are in Anarchy, everybody does what they want.
Miners in Straybow will start to work on coal to speed up the settler production.
In Mercatia a chariot is rushbuilt.
In ScouseHolmes the people cease to work on the river, going to the pole to "harvest" the well paid Ivory.
Messer Niccolò and a bunch of sages try to create a new form of government but Anarchy is preferred.
2750 BC: The Chariot in Mercatia is now part of the "yaMama" forces of defences (or offense? ), and because in the city there is a lot of people, some are requested to leave (settler production started).
In a hut near Mercatia, some brave mounted warriors, impressed by the purple-orange-green uniforms of the "yaMama Charioteers" decided to join the Army (tipped a hut for horsemen).
2700 BC Straybow miners decide that mining is not what they wanna do in life. They regroup and leave the town (settler built)
2650 BC In year 2650, Messer Niccolò and Oedo, tell the yaMamers ( ) the history of another population: the Persians who where slayed by barbarians because the lack of a "civilized" government. Impressed they all elect Messer Niccolò as KING (tax: 4-6-0)

and again...
2600 BC Exploring... and, just to test the power of the King, Messer Niccolò goes to Hammurabi asking for some gifts (tribute).
Since His Majesty words are backed by Chariots and Horsemen, the Green One (so named because of his green robes and the colour of his face after having heard King Messer Niccolò I words) gifts us 50 Gold. (and remains Enthusiast).
2550 BC Pepperoni eaters in Mercatia are expelled and asked to form a new city. (rushbuilt settler in Mercatia)
2500 BC 50 years of party at Royal Palace
2450 BC in 2500 the Messer Niccolò & Oedo words proved to be true. Two companies of barbarians archers landed near our chariot east of Mercatia. Our spiked wheels men do mincemeat of them (and of their leaders so: no ransom )
And again in the northern reaches of the Kingdom people (again impressed with the beautiful uniforms) decide to join our Army (horsemen Straybow home city)
2400 BC We discover an advanced tribe far in the North who declares its allegiances to the kingdom. City named RazeMeIfUDare!. West of Straybow a road is slowly built.
2350 BC in Straybow a new Horsemen company is built. King MN I decides to have a chat with "the Green One" who, notwithstanding his green colour, teaches our sages how to draw a map (mapmaking acquired)
2300 BC Hut is "tipped" and the First Archers of RazeMeIfUDare! are created - and immediately sent to the city to defend it from the raiders.
2250 BC Our sages dicover how to write things, King MN I asks them to analyze a strange thing they call "Currency" so that, in a future, yaMama people could benefit of "The Power of the Camel".
Pepperoni eaters forced to left Mercatia build the City of Sarzana (town of the Pepperoni Eaters).
... now, after a lot of years of enlightened reign, King MN I, playing cards, loses his throne to STYOM (well a SixThousandYearsOldMan... he has to have cheated!) and retires to his ScouseHolme Estate.
Ex King MN I has a feeling: the Colossus (we are building in ScouseHolme) will fit better in a town called RHODES .
But we have, of course, plans for what an architect called "Hanging Gardens"... but who cares, STYOM is the King now... back to sunbathing

Got it.
I'll be able to play pretty shortly.
Mercatia, don't worry about messing up the game - I was joking about that (maybe you were too?). That just adds to the challenge for the others, is how I see it.
SG [1] mentioned oedo years... here's a chart for you to d/l if you want/need it. It's in the GL as well.

Sassicaia...
... mmmh ... Never heard about Sassicaia?
One of the finest red wines (or maybe The finest).
It has not the flowered bouquet of French wines (in fact it's an Italian wine) but one of the better taste.
Ah, I think you won't find a bottle of it at Tesco... (if you know what I mean)!
This wine is worth the price.
Back over the thread:
STYOM are you building the HG or the project are still lying in some obscure architect room?

STYOM takes over the reins from MN. All seems well with the world, with few enemies to menace us.
Goals:
1) Finish Colossus
2) Start HG
3) Learn Trade
2250: Production in Sarzana changed to Warriors. Nice to see the Barbarians have the #4 city in the world, and we're not on the list!
2200: Panama Hatt founded. Drunken revellers are shanghaiied into a Warriors unit. Village located south of Mercatia.
Glory be, our population exceeds 100,000.
2150: Gold discovered near RazeMeIfUDare! Villagers near Mercatia assemble as a Legion for our cause.
2100: Exploration. At a state dinner, STYOM explains to the Babylonian emissary that, "History is on our side, and we shall bury you". The Babylonians seem to find these threats feeble. We'll see.
2050: Another village of heathens located NW of Panama Hatt.
2000: Warriors recruited in Panama Hatt. Settler started. Our Horsemen discover that the village NW of Panama Hatt is filled with Horsemen; unfortunately, hostile ones. They are vanquished and our Horsemen now swagger around the taverns calling themselves veterans.
Sarzana has coered the town drunks into becoming a Warriors unit. The more dissolute ones are told to prepare to move out - as a Settlers unit.
1950: We encounter a Babylonian Settler. We exchange Writing for Currency. Again, the uppity sons of Gilgamesh refuse to give us cash.
1900: We're now researching Trade. We locate the city of Babylon 7 tiles directly West of Straybow!
1850: Trade discovered. Researching Polytheism. Temple purchased in Straybow (to avoid wasted shields).
A Gibbon of some sort rates us 1-2 with the Babylonians in advancement.
1800: Straybow completes Temple, starts Caravan, with an eye to Hanging Gardens. Mercatia completes Settlers; starts Caravan. Mercatian Settler and Warriors move NE, towards a likely city location with access to Fish and Wine.
50 gold from a village N of RazeMeIfUDare! Workers shifted in ScouseHolme in anticipation of size 3 to avoid unrest.
1750: Workers rearranged in Scouse Holme.
STYOM charges off towards Babylon waving a sharpened stick. The throne is empty, but the hopes are that some chariots will be sent after him, to Babylon
Goals: Well, we learned Trade, which should allow us to complete Colossus/HG in ScouseHolme (which seems a likely SSC)
edit:
Play order:
1) SG[1]
2) Mercatia
3) Messer Nicolo
4) STYOM
5) StrayBow
6) LaFayette
7)
8)
