Civ 2 1-pager tech tree
I have created a Civ 2 tech tree that fits on a 8.5x11 sheet of paper. You may find it at:
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/pmm1/games/games.html
It is available both as a native file format (PowerPoint 2000) or
as an Adobe PDF.
By the way, on the same page there are 1-page tech trees that I have created for Civ1, Alpha Centauri (inc. Alien X-fire), and X-COM, as well as other useful reference files, including a comprehensive summary of the techs for Space Empires IV Gold.
Regards,
Nethog

Thanks, Nethog - they could well be useful - is the tech tree for SEIV gold the same as SEIV?

Page two looks useful. The tech tree looks awfully busy on one page! Good job!

Scouse, the seiv gold tech tree is very close to seiv. Drones have been added to seiv gold so thats one difference. I didn't do a comprehensive comparison but I don't think much else if different.
Marquis, yes its busy but I like to have all info on 1 page. I use a highlighter marker to track progress on the tree.

Nethog, couldn't you separate the "Tech Tree" into three parts?
Comments:
barracks repair also units in the city's vincinity
temple: only 1 content until mysticism
Bach: I am not sure but I think not only continent, but whole world.
But a more experienced player than me should check the charts out (I usually stop games in 1000BC).

Excellent! Thanks a lot!
Nethog, your tech tree is exactly what I was looking for!
So, I have got no excuse left now: I'll just have to start working again on the Discworld Scenario...
Many Thanks

Bach's cathedral has an effect only for cities on the same continent as the city in which it is built.

Nope - although the Civolopaedia states this - all the one continent Wonders work for the entire civilisation...

Nethog, I have used your tech trees for Civ1, Civ2, and SMAC. They are so helpful and when I play I have the one page tech tree right by the computer.
I wish - WISH - that you would make a one page tech tree for Civ3. Please think about it...

Well, I created the tech tree to suit my own preferences - I like to see the whole tree on a single page. Of course if you have poor eyesite or a poor printer I am sure the tree would be hard to read!

ST, could you be a little more specific? Do you mean in the city radius?

I changed my local powerpoint and will push it to my website when all feedback has been received.

If everyone agrees I will update my Exel wonders chart and put it on my website. Scouse, does this apply to ALL versions of Civ2 (I am using the latest patched version of Multiplayer Gold)?

I updated the powerpoint (tech tree and improvements) and Excel with the wonders summary with your feedback, as well as other feedback I received from other sources, and posted them on my web-site ( http://mywebpages.comcast.net/pmm1/games/games.html )

Oh yes - (2) only plays Civ - but I'm a great games player - I really loved SEIII, found SEIV slightly disappointing - but still play it occasionally

Scouse Gits (1) do your usually just play TBS? i am looking for a good WW2 strat game....not interested in graphics just good game play .....
i can't for the life of me remember what my buddy used to play so i can't ask you whether or not you liked it but i believe it was more along the lines of reading about casualties...so no actual "visual" conflict occured

I don't recall any text based games of that sort, but there were a set of three? four? games based on hex maps with a level of complexity sufficient to make your hair curl - It was a long time ago, but I recall seeing the whole bundle discounted at amazon? within the last eighteen months which reminded me of the good times I had had with them - if I can get my memory to be more specific I'll get back to you...

I have had a hunt - the best I can find at the moment is talonsoft's http://www.talonsoft.com Operational Art of War which looks quite good, but is definitely more modern than the game I had in mind - I'll keep looking ...

Got them!!!
The games I recall are the V for Victory set by Three Sixty Pacific - the games are individually: Gold Juno Sword; Market Garden; Utah Beach & Velikiye Yuke - the last of which has particularly fond memories for me - All of them (and the OAoW above) are available from the underdog - PM me if you need a link
Enjoy, SG[1]

MAJOR UPDATE!!
Since my initial post the tech tree has undergone major changes based upon feedback from various folks over at Civ Fanatics as well as here. I have included the revised tech tree in a set of Civ2 reference sheets which I am calling "Nethog's Civ2 Reference Pack". Included is the "1-pager tech tree", a wonders summary, a units summary, combat modifiers, and a terrain conversion chart.
The reference pack is available in a single file, either native PowerPoint or as a PDF ay http://mywebpages.comcast.net/pmm1/games/games.html
Currently, it is in the "beta" stage (beta 0.92 as of today) and I am seeking feedback before its official 1.0 release expected in a week or two. At that point I will start a new thread announcing 1.0 and providing a new location for feedback on the "released" version of the ref pack.
