First Succession Game (con't) a.k.a. Would anyone want to do this?

Well here is the second part of the succession game for Civ 2. The first part is here.

I am happy that the war has continued and that it is going so well. No disrespect but a little war spiced up the game didn't it.

Anyway hope that my next turn I can crush the life out of everyone!!!

My Civ 2 Scenario Page.

I finished my turn (see 1st thread for my exploits) with the Apolyton Warmachine in full throttle.

File was sent to Scouse Gits, please forward accordingly.

Cities are producing Vet. Dragoons , Caravels or Dips.

Money is pouring in. The Carthaginians, Celts, & Mongols are in Democracy. Chinese in Monarchy. Everyone else is in Republic.

Current research is Metallurgy. Here come the Cannons.

I don't know if I can handle another turn. The responsibility I felt when I had the reigns was incredible. Someone posted a thread once and asked "Would you play Civ if it was taking place on a real world?" Folks, this is taking place on a real world. You all are my heritage, my future, as I am yours.

The Holy Interregnum ...

The Ascent of Maud'Dib the Prophet may, indeed, have given the people cause for rejoicing. A truly Spiritual Ending to a great rule that oversaw the burgeoning of The Faith. However, the College of Elders of the Faith found itself in uproar. So many of Apolyton's leaders had lived for millennia that a mere two centuries seemed like a blink of the eye. From whence could an adequate successor be found?

And so it was that the the Thirteen Princes of The Faith met in dire conclave to determine, if they could, who would lead The Faith, The People and Apolyton forward in these dark days of war. The true story of the three months that passed with the Red Streamers of Doubt flying from the many turrets of Apolyton Palace before finally they were replaced by the Blue of Decision will likely never be known.

Was it the merest coincidence that the War Caravels of Truth returned from the Great Southern Ocean bearing three squadrons of the dreaded Hammers of The Faith to dock in the Inner Harbor just below the Sea Gate to the Palace only days before the Blue? That tempers were raised cannot be in doubt. Prelate Arhame of Ahab was known throughout the realm for his gentleness and kindness, that he became so enraged as to slay Archisamnite Josias of Smashchester in a duel over the proper ranking of Ming among the Pantheon shows how inflamed tempers had become. Sadly Arhame himself died of his wounds shortly after this affray so his side of the story can never be told.

It was only to be expected that such veterans as the Venerable Beneti of Mingapulco and the Speaker of Civ2-MP Forum, both being in their second centuries, should find a three month sojourn in the notoriously chilly Apolyton Palace a strain upon their health. That they should both expire from a virulent strain of pneumonia was truly the worst of fortunes. When the High Seat of Xinville revealed that he had had a Divine Revelation which required him to relinquish his Holy Office and retire to his monastery in Outpost Alpha to contemplate this vision accompanied by his personal honor-guard from the Hammers, the conclave was sadly short of quorum.

It was only now, after nearly three months of trials and tribulations, that at last fortune smiled upon the conclave. Was it not most serendipitous that the Priest-Warriors of the Second Squadron of the Hammers of The Faith, known universally as "Gits' God Squad" from their home Chapter House in Gitsburg, should count amongst their number the duly accredited and documented heirs and successors to each of these five Diocese? Let people doubt and scoff - it remains to this day a truth that not a single voice or document contested this Gift from On High!

So it was that, some five days later, the Blue streamed and the world came to know those Princes of The Faith, the Co-Ordinators of Gitsburg, Admiral of the Fleet of The Truth and Praeceptor of the Hammers of The Faith. The Scouse Gits in Concert had returned ...

Violence Rocks Apolyton1470ad

In a shocking move,forces loyal to General Smash have stormed the Royal Palace in Apolyton in an apparent coup attempt.The situation is unclear but it is reported High Preist DaveV and a small group of loyalists were forced to flee the capitol.Whereabouts of the now deposed leader are unknown.It is believed he has fled the mainland to one of his many slave colonies.

Eyewitnesses are saying the coup was unopposed and had the full support of the military.Millions of Apolytoners have taken to the streets in apparent celebration.

At 5:00 local time,coup spokesman Tal Shem addressed the masses in Apolyton.Here are some excerpts:

“Today all Apolyton has stepped out from under a dark cloud of ICS.This is the year zero and all is to start anew.”

“We must find a new way and we shall.From this moment forward,ALL authority is to be replaced.They are the criminals that enslaved the people.They will be brought to justice”

Secret Negotiations Result in Ceasefires

Coup spokesman confirmed today that General Smash has been in secret negotiations with Celtic,Babylonian,Aztec and Chinese officials for months.As a result,ceasefires were today announced and a formal peace treaty with China was finalized.

Speaking on behalf of the Group of Four spokesman Xin Xao had this to say

“Long we awaited this day.It is with joyous hearts we look to the future”

When asked why other members had not formalized peace treaties
“Peace cannot be built in a day.We have a commitment of intent from the new government in Apolyton.This is the beginning”

When asked why the Carthaginians and Mongols refused to sign ceasefires

“Why don’t you ask them?”

General Smash Pronounced Chairman

Following up on earlier promises,a massive re-organization of the Government was conducted.General Smash was declared chairman by acclamation today and a Communist doctrine was adopted.

“The Party is your father.Your father will take care of you”

All local officials were replaced by Party members.The fate of these officials is unknown at the moment.Party officials reported they have been sent to “Retraining Facilities”

Intellectuals,students,doctors,lawyers and other leaders were ordered to report to local Party headquarters for re-assignment.

Tal Shem-”The Party needs these people to rebuild the nation”

Mongol leader Khan was quoted as saying
“There is going to be a slaughter”

General Smash countered by saying
“Kahn would know about slaughter”

He went on to accuse the Mongols of refusing to participate in peace.
“They will be not be happy until every Apolytoner is killed”

Samarkland flatly denied this.


Massive R&D Program Announced

In another surprise move,Party officials confirmed that all faculty members of advanced learning centers were re-assigned to top priority government research and development programs.

Tal Shem-”Our enemies have sworn our death.We shall have new weapons and fight them until we can fight them no more”


Carthage Accuses Apolyton of Genocide1480ad
Caralis
Carthaginian officials today accused Apolyton of massive scale genocide around the capitol.Citing recent intelligence reports,officials accused the Smash goverrnent of wholesale evacutions to the country side of towns and villages around the capitol.They also reported large work brigades being sent to dismantle and remove all evidence of existance of these areas.
“Its clear what is happening.I have great fear for the future” was what King Hannibal had to say on the accusations.

Karakorum
In a speech to the Mongolian house today,King Ghengis echoed the concern of the Carthiginians.
“This is no surprise to me.I know ICS and it's evils.I studyed it for years.This always happens to an empire such as Apolyton.I always said that nation was evil.Why do you think we’ve been fighting them so long?”


Apolyton
The goverment here reacted with an outright rejection of Carthaginian accusations today.They cited Caralis’ close relations with Karakorum and their refusal to sign ceasefires as evidence that King Hannibal may have more sinister plans in mind.
General Smash
“Look it.We are technically at war with these people.What do you expect them to say?They are just trying to undermind the new peace.Isn’t the fact that we have shared Railroad with the Group of Four nations evidence of our good faith?”

Party officials later confirmed there had been some re-settlement around the capitol but it had been done to remove people from areas that were under threat from Mongol forces.
When asked why,considering a foreign miltary hasn’t set foot on the Apolyton mainland in centuries Tal Shem quipped
“That doesn’t mean we don’t prepare for it”

Conscription Announced1490ad
The government ordered all males age 30 or lower to report for military service.
General Smash-”We are at war”

A massive modernization program was announced by the military.Muskets were replaced with rifles and dragoons were phased out in favor of new cavalry.By 1505 the modernization was complete.

Chinese Declare War1500ad
General Smash-”They’ve got guts”
Group of Four officials were apparently caught off guard by this development and offered no comment.

Aztecs Break Ceasefire
Carthage
Aztec forces attacked here at dawn in an attempted liberation of Carthage.The small force was quickly subdued but war has broken out.General Smash immediately condemned the attack and broke off all contact with Group of Four nations.

“I know their treacherous plans.Fool me once,shame on me,fool me twice..”

“We can no longer sit idly by and watch whats going on.These guys have got to be stopped.I mean they are hellbent on world domination”

King Ghengis lashed out at the Smash government today with allegations they were suppressing religion by closing temples.Speaking on behalf of his father,Kubla had this to say
“We have evidence of temples not only being closed but burned to the ground across the countryside.This is clearly an attempt to supress the church.The list of abuse is increasing daily.We condemn them”
There was no reaction fron Apolyton.

War Declared on Celts1510
General Smash-”Why not?We’re at war with everybody else.”

Panoramas Captured
Elite forces led by General LeClair mounted a successful operation against the former Carthaginian stronghold.
“It was a cakewalk.We didn’t lost a single man.The new technology is really proving itself.”

Bokhara Liberated
A combined sea and land attack saw Bokhara fall to Apolyton forces.No casualties were reported for Apolyton.The ease of the 2 attacks today made Karakorum plead for a ceasefire which was flatly refused.
Later in the day the Carthiginian ambassador made indications of desiring an end to the fighting but General Smash refused to grant an audience.
“The time for talk is over”

War Machine Rolls On1515ad
Apolyton forces continued to score successes with the capture of Malaca and Kabul.The War Department once again reported no casualties.Rumers of King Ghengis evacuating the capitol could not be confirmed.It was learned later that 1 ironclad was lost due to what was described as an “accident”No further details were released.

Khanbalyk Falls1520ad
It what is becoming routine,the War Department reported that this ancient city had been captured.No casualties.

Utica Sacked1525ad
The Carthiginian capitol fell to General Leclair early today after a bold tactical strike.Government officials were found dead in a bunker buried deep beneath civic headquarters.All died of self inflicted wounds in final gesture of defiance.
General Leclair-”Our cavalry is just too much for them.The men have now gained tremendous confidence.There is no stopping us now”

Rebels in Leptis Parva sezed this opportunity and swore allegence and to fight their former oppressors to the end.This did not stop the Party from purging local officials and replacing them with Party members.

More Cities Fall1535ad
Caralis,Khorasan and Aleppo were seized by Apolyton forces.Only light resistance was encountered

Mongol Capitol Put to the Torch
Men of the 2nd Cavalry stormed the Mongol capitol in a daring daylight raid crushing all opposition.Government house was burned with advisory council members still inside.It was confirmed that Ghengis was in Basra at the time of the raid.He has not been seen publicly since the loss of Kabul.

R&D Continues1540ad
Research and development got another boost with the opening of Sir Isaacs College in Shanghai.

Copernicus’ Observatory Captured in Tabriz
2nd Cavalry took this landmark with ease.Party leaders are mistified why it was built in Tabriz.

Major Technological Breakthru Announced1445ad
Scientists in Shanghai announced today that Electricty had been discovered.This new technology should change the world as it currently is.To date the Smash regime has discovered Espionage,Conscription,Tactics,The Corporation,Gravity and Electricity.

Mongol Mainland Under Apolyton Control
The last city on the Mongol mainland has fallen.Nishapur was taken without incident reducing the Hoarde to the island fortress of Basra.

Chinese,Carthiginians-DESTROYED
Apolyton cavalry captured Tatung and Rusucurru in a bloody demonstration to what superior weapons and tactics can do.The Party is calling it the greatest day in Apolyton military history.Officials concede there is no history under their year zero policy.

Hoover Dam Complete1555ad
Party officials announced construction on the mega project was finished and operations would begin in 5 years when the reservoir had filled.
General Smash Dead
Stories filtering out of Apolyton are that General Smash has been murdered by Party spokesman Tal Shem.General Leclair has taken power and Shem has been executed.A new leader is to be named.

A combination of a number of factors: engineers, railroads, substantial amounts of cash, huge food surpluses. And a fondness toward ICS . Actually, though, it was only 10 turns:
