yep, did you know they are so kickass, that they were actually holding the release back, because the sys-reqs are so high, not a lot of people would be able to play it.

I personally don't see what the big deal is about the graphics - sure, they demand alot of hardware, but I don't think they are anything better then what we have today (certainly not enough better to warrant the huge hardware requirements) Infact, from the screen shots I have seen, it looks like they are going overboard with the textures and lighting and making everything look surreal. (and very shiny)

That's seriously fabulous graphics. Any word on what the system requirements are?

Now that the good atmosphere confirmed, all we really have to hope for now is good level design.

AvP scared me. In the dark, with the music high. Playing and being suprised by a pretorian. That would get the heart going. But this, this will make me **** in my pants.

Ah, I'm in then. How nice. Seems I will go straight from Doom to Doom3 without ever having done any other FPS in between...

Yup. One of the thing that made Doom a very nice game. Looking at that end level counter -- "98% Kills, 66% Secret - huh? What did I miss this time?"

Since I cancelled the subscription to that game magazine I haven't received any news about new PC games at all. So when is DOOM 3 going to be released?

It's looking damn good, just looking at some stuff about it at the moment...my present system has no chance of coping with it, but fortunately, if I have a decent job by then I will be up for a system upgrade before then

If computer game graphics had not been invented, how often would we be upgrading our PC's?

I thought the first two Dooms sucked
I only like FPSs in multiplay (and mainly only 007 and Halflife)
but that looks cool

"I thought the first two Dooms sucked"
Do you mean compared to what came out before them or after? Doom started that genre. It was addictive and soon started the multiplayer FPS genre too IIRC.
This is like a Christian saying "The Bible? I never did like that book..."

actually Wolfenstein3D did
and I liked that one better
I just disliked doom
I got it and doom2, played both for 4 hours or so and put them down and never touched them again
of course it seems likely that I only like FPSs for multiplay
(and I hate all the Quakes, those are just horrid)

I played Wolf, DOOM 1 and 2 through, but didn't go far with other FPS's. I guess I exhausted myself on those before getting started on the others that I toyed with. I agree MP is a lot more fun, but have not put much time into it.
That's wierd that you preferred Wolf3D. Maybe multiplayer made the Dooms seem dull? Having said that, I know Half Life is meant to be great, but I haven't managed to get beyond the opening sequences.
Perhaps it is just that single player FPS is ultimately unsatisfying.

Oh
I have never finished an FPS (in single player)
and of all the recent ones I have mostly played Multiplayer (as in less than an hour on any single player FPS)

Looks like you value your time more highly than me.
I must admit I get nervous every time that I see Provost Harrison's avatar.
