Trade Supremo Elections
Just one candidate again. Three day poll, closing about 0146 Thursday chat room time.
Have a VERY good justification if you vote no confidence here.
timmy2tone69, if you have any campaign promises, post 'em here for all to see.
VP,
MrWIA.

someone actually voted no, I would love to know the reason or was it just a bit of a joke ?
A valid reason might be good for us all to know

Fellow comrads. Thank you so much for voting for me. It's a close race and i hope i win. I promise as trade minister to rid all our camels of fleas. Not only fleas, but ticks too. for too long have insects plauged our caravans. On top of that i will place top priority on caravan use for wonders. I propose that we keep a supply of caravans at the ready so when one of those super great wonders comes along we don't have to worry about any rival civs building it first. Not that it should be a huge concern since the dialect proclaims we shall prevail!!!
PS:Thank you very much civman2000. I'm glad to see that even when i have no competition someone will still vote for Cory haim or the bannana or whatever.

Doesn't this actually almost fall under the responsibility of the City Planner?

i voted no. i've never seen timmy before so i went and looked at his posts, and he hasn't contributed anything besides "good job" type posts and the thread "goats and such" i'm not even convinced he's a real poster and not a DL. i question how he came directly to the civ2 democratic game without a post anywhere else.

Where the are no alternative candidates, having a Minister is better than not having one. We are in a critical phase, and we need SOMEone doing these jobs - this is always better than NOone. Wherever there is a candidate, I strongly advise voting for them. At the very least there will be somebody who has the job, otherwise it just makes a lot more work for the VP and everyone else.

The City-Planner is concerned with maximizing production of whatever is needed by the other Ministers and the President/Premier. The actual things to be produced are not his concern. If the People want shields, he will maximize shields; if they need trade, he will maximize that.

not entirely,but it's really easy:
tax and therefore camels are the job of the tradeadvisor.
This means he decides(=listens to the ppl) what they will be used for.(eg building WoW).
The city-planner can choose where the WoW should be build...but most of the time he will agree with the location the Trade-advisor suggests.
as you can see no problem at all.

on the other hand, things like temples or barracks or walls, etc, that have not been assigned special jobs by other ministers are the city planner's job.

ohh wow i'm winning. i don't wanna jump the gun, but i'd like to thank my third grade teacher Mrs Baker, i'd like to thank my cat fluffy, my producer, my parents...........
It seems that there are some who dislike the idea of a STONECUTTER holding a position. I know i've made some mistakes (example: goats and such). I also know that i've posted some "good job" posts. (what else can u say about cavebear and his fantasmonious leadership). I don't know what a DL is so i can't even address that. ( Dancing Leuprcan???). Thank you all for voting and remember to call your mothers.

Well, at least two of the no-voters owned up and justified themselves. Thanks civman2000 and H Tower. To try and put your worries to rest, just remember the Prez is a last check on all the Ministers, so as long as we have a reliable Prez (and we DO), we have little to fear from someone new to the game having a post, especially one like Trade.
timmy2tone69, here's an unofficial congrats for (as you surely will) winning the confidence of the ppl and becoming Trade Advisor!
Hopefully your example will show all of the others here who are brand new to the game that you CAN get involved and have fun too.
Remember, just ask for help if it's needed. Previous Trade Ministers who are still around (shade springs to mind as an excellent example) will likely be willing to pass on their specialised know-how of the post.
