I have zero worries about Civ3 being a Red Alert or Age of Kings game to just make money. Turn based games don't even fall into the same category as RTS clickfests. Civ3 is shaping up to at the very worst be iteratively better then SMAC and a best, the defining Civilization game. No matter where in the spectrum the game falls, I'll be pretty happy. Jeez, I'd be happy if it was Civ2 with more then 256 colors. I think Firaxis is smart enough to not destroy the Civ franchise by releasing crap, the company would fold if they did, even with the Sid Meier name, a name isn't worth anything if the quality isn't there.

Yeah, we've read it, and I personally laughed at, and considered it an absolute waste of my time.

If it was a waste of your time, why did you waste more of your time posting about it? Is there something bugging you?

I have been vociferous on the issue of unique civs, but i must say that
despite all that, this looks like an excellent game. While we wont know till its released, it seems to have a good balance of meaningful changes while staying "civish", of appealing to hardcore players and the casual audience, and seems to be making improvements (with the exception of UU's ) which will both add to historical accuracy and improve gameplay.

Every real civ fan look here!!
I sugest that all of ya who consider yorself civ fans take a look at the last column(165, Civ3: worst fears come true!!). Of course many of you have already read it, but to you who don`t have, read it!! It is about what many of us has thought for a time now, is this going to be a great game, or does firaxis and Sid just use the opportunity to make money. I am a bit worried that the game is going to be a sort of advanced Red Alert 2 or Age Of Empire 2. If this happens I am going to presonaly send a long nasty e-mail to firaxis and everybody who cares to listen, about how they ruined the greatest game ever!!!
For now we just have to keep the faith!!
