John Fitzgerald Kennedy.
It was just before the election which made him President. Him and Reagen had a TV interview to debate their issues.
I saw it on a thing on TV called "Looking good for the camera" - Kennedy wore make up, so he looked calm, whilst Reagen didn't, so he sweated the whole way through.
Some say thats one of the reasons Kennedy won.. lol

Well, they both became President, didn't they?
Kennedy was a better one, of course. And had loads of girlfriends...
So you're Reagan

Comrade, the disease figures include the common cold. The life expectancy... uh... well, I'm sure there is a good explanation.
(If we were the US gov't, menopause and balding would also be included. - Drug companies have too much lobbying power in that capitalist system!)

Bear, don't you mean the Kennedy/ Nixon debate?
Anyway, you wondered if the cabinet would accept a public push for a change in gov't. I believe the answer is YES. There was talk of turning republic, but first we had to solve happiness issues and mine some hills. However, we soon were at war with most of the other civs. With the Statue of Liberty, we switched to commie in order to boost production and eliminate corruption, while having obvious advantages in war.
Once a change to democracy is feasable, I assure you there will be support in both the public and council to make the change. Lobby to end the wars, dig some holes, and trade! Once that is done, a switch to democracy would work.

Thank you, Marquis.
Bear, this sort of historical inaccuracy is not to be tolerated.
1960 -- Nixon debates Kennedy. JFK wins presidency.
1968 -- Nixon declines debate vs. Humphrey, wins presidency.
1980 -- Reagan runs for president. No Kennedy available. Reagan wins.
WARNING: If this is the level of accuracy we can expect from the Apolyton Capitalist Party, I shall look with jaundiced eye at any plan for conversion to Democracy.

correct me if I'm mistaken as I didn't grow up with hippies.
Hippies are the guys that sit back and tell stories about how the man keeps putting them down and we should all love each other in peace and harmony and drugs should be free and legal.
While Comunists are the guys that want to make the country into a huge union where everyone has equal opportunity, does an equal amount of work, and gets dirt for it. but it's all better in the end because the community is better.
where as In real life they're the guys who manage to get control a big army, take over a country, and don't want to be called dictators.
am I right?

Well, yes and no. Hippies are pro-freedom, and generally pro-equality to some extent. Pure commmunism has no need for an oppressive dictator, and as such, is a free, equal utopia. Very in line with hippie ideals. An authoritarian communism is, of course, undesirable.
But, as a tree-hugging idealist, I am tied to neither philosophy completely, and am free to choose the best methods I can to eliminate humanity from planet earth.
have a nice day

I should point out that we are well underway to improving our income production. Of our 22 cities, 6 already have Marketplaces, and 11 are building them. We currently have an income of 47 and a cost of only 14 gold per turn. That's with a tech rate of 4 turns. We could raise that income to 93 by lowering our tech rate to 5 turns. With as many techs as we want to have, I'm not sure even a delay of 1 turn is worth it. I suggest we let the new Marketplaces be completed and get our money that way.

Me and James Adams have agreed on The Apolyton Capitalist & Foreign Prestige Party (ACPP), I think, so our membership rises to three!
Theres also one or two other people who may support our noble cause, so I shall speak to them.
And people.. stop having a free for all about hippies
