Charles V? Never heard of him?!?!? Ruled around 1505 and inherited Spain, Portugal, parts of the Netherlands, some bits of Germany, and most of Lower Italy/Sicily. He also ruled the Spanish claims in the Americas, making his the largest European Empire for several centuries, and one of the most notable Empires of history!
This was part of Spain's Golden Age too, where Spanish art and culture flourished. He spoke at least as many languages as JCP mentioned, possibly others too.
