Guess the scenario subject
I'm currently working on a short scenario; a scenarioette, if you will. As far as I'm aware, no-one has done a scenario on this particular subject before, so it should hopefully be somewhere vaguely approaching original. I've attached an early WIP image; can you guess what the scenario is?
P.S. Some of you should be able to work it out from one or two of the elements in the picture: they're pretty good clues if you know your stuff on this particular topic.

Those are some great looking units. Is it a Stargate scenario?

Stargate SG-1 I believe!
I tried to make a stargate scenario before myself, having a no. of different circular islands to represent planets and using airbases as stargates, having given a special SG team unit the paradrop flag and set the paradrop range to maximum. I then placed units on the airbases, activated "cover whole map", then disbanded all the units so that the human player could see all the possible locations he could "gate" to (it was going to be a house rule that you had to paradrop onto a stargate).
It looks like you've gone for a more different approach though Paul, and it looks fantastic! Please finish this one off! BTW what happened to that Cold War scenario about a Soviet invasion of Europe you were working on?

Yeah, it's Stargate SG-1. As you say, I went for a different approach, as the entire galaxy was too hard to represent using the Civ2 engine (as you point out, it requires too many house rules), so this one represents just one mission. In this case, it's the first mission to Chulak, as shown in the pilot episode "Children of the Gods".
The units, from left to right, are:
Major Kawalsky
Daniel Jackson
Colonel O'Neill
Captain Carter
2nd Lt. Casey
Sargeant Wharram
The last two are, from what I can ascertain after watching the episode several times, the other two members of SG-2. Their ranks are made up (the more eagle-eyed amongst you will probably have noticed that the graphics over the shields are USAF rank insignia).
As for Red Storm, I'm sorry to disappoint you but it's been put on the backburner for the time being. I'm really not cut out for the making of huge, multi-part scenarios, but hopefully I'll be able to finish it off one day. I'll keep working on it from time to time, but it's won't be out tomorrow.
