It gets better and better - eb.co.uk lists the price for Morrowind as being £29.99, while I was expecting £34.99. £29.99 means £24.50 after discount and voucher. I'm very, very tempted...

I saw it in the EB at Paddington (which is pretty small and console focused) on FRiday night so it should appear in the others pretty soon. It was 29.99 which was a bit disheartening as i paid £52 for the US collector's edition. Personally i prefer Fallout 2 but thats because
a) i like turn based games
b) my PC is at the bottom end of the recommended spec
Unless you've got a high spec PC i think you could be missing out on Morrowind.

As I've posted elsewhere, I have almost exactly the recommended specs, so I should be fine.
And as soon as FP's parcel arrives, I have Fallout and Fallout 2

Get Icewind Dale II. It will be the Diablo of D&D.

I'll add my vote for Thief: Gold.
This game is absolutely awesome! Excellent story, very nice cut-scenes, Garretts voice suits the game perfectly. The gameplay is unique in that non-violence is an option, and generally the preferred one.
I can't recommend this game enough.

Too right, DinoDoc. I got the last Thief II in the store, and it was so good, I immediately started checking every store I knew for Thief Gold. It took me about a dozen or more stores before I got lucky. This game also was the last one in the store, box beat all to krap, hidden in the close-out bin behind another game.

Yeah, I know. I only managed to get Thief TDP. But at least it was only like AU$15, when new games here are around AU$100.

Chowlett, you just missed Woolworths offering Morrowinf for £19.99.
My vote is split between Morrowind and Thief.
Morrowind is fantastic, epic, free-form, and buggy (yes--it crashes a fair bit). Their is no one bit of it that is absolutely outstanding, just the fact that all of these good bits are in the same game.
Thief is smaller, but superbly crafted and scripted. The Return to Cathedral level is absolutely evil (and terrifying).

Woolworths is still around in the UK?
I soared gracefully into the dirt here many many years ago.

I now possess Morrowind! Yay! Not quite as cheap as I'd expected, since EB shops are more expensive than EB websites. However, a 10% student discount and a £2.50 voucher pushed it down to £29, so I can't complain.
Now I'm off to read the manual while I eat lunch, and then I'll, erm, backup, reformat, reinstall and have a crack at it. I was going to reinstall anyway, it's not that Morrowind has forced it.

If you want a banana plantation tycoon type game, then Tropico comes pretty close since it incorpoates banana plantations.

Yeah, they're quite a steal. You can really take a bow in those games.
Like a thief in the night, someone else may aqcuire the last copies on the store shelves. So don't dally, for procrastination is the thief of time.

The bow! Oh, the sheer frustration at the bows in Morrowind, without the slowly creaking string, thezooming in, the wobbling as the arm falters, and then the inevitable surrender. The water arrows--the HOLY water arrows making zombies explode. The broadheads, used to distract guards. The fire arrows, used to solve puzzles and attack creatures. Oh yes.
