This idiot needs to read a history book or a newspaper:
Keep in mind im a patriotic American, but I hate idiots who think America rules the world....because it dosent even come close. Anyway with the many inteligent non American posters on this board(most boards im on 90% of the people are Americans.....I find I like this board the most out of any board I post on though heh).
I was just talking to my friend, who is an idiot and he said the following:
Things he's said:
-Any special forces officer could take out any of the martial arts masters in hand to hand, unarmed/melee, one on one combat.
-The US Military can take on any enemy force without a problem and is the most battle ready.
-All the extra security since 9/11 is unnecessary since we *obviously* got all of Al-Qaeda and no other group would DARE attack us, no sir!
-Just general "US has the best..."
--Energy Production
--Economy
--Cars
--Sports (He totally disregards the World Cup since its not a major America-based championship)
--Education system
--Etc....

Has your friend ever left the States?
If not, with an attitude like that he should be afraid to!
The Americans overseas I have met are fantastic people, great representatives for their country, but I imagine an American like that living overseas wouldn't make many friends.

Such people are the greatest threat to US power of all.
If they ever became a majority then US power would have the life expectancy of a candle under the Nigaria Falls.

c'mon Veysan! Those are undisputed facts!
-Any special forces officer could take out any of the martial arts masters in hand to hand, unarmed/melee, one on one combat.
Steven Segal! You mean you've never seen the way he beats the daylights out of all those "ferners" :gasp:
-The US Military can take on any enemy force without a problem and is the most battle ready.
Red Dawn?! Don't tell me you never saw that one!
-All the extra security since 9/11 is unnecessary since we *obviously* got all of Al-Qaeda and no other group would DARE attack us, no sir!
Absolutely true! Al-Qaeda is extinct. No other terrorist organization would even think about trying a stunt like that now! We showed 'em good!
*sigh* I know what you mean, bro....'bout the only thing he sorta got right was the economy....no question that it's the biggest....as for being the best? Depends on what measures you use. In some ways, yes. But it's interesting that of all his statements that was the ONLY one I could find a grain of truth in...lol
-=Vel=-
PS: Maybe in overall combat readiness too...since we're pretty mobilized at the moment, but....yeah....tell him to get out more....

Education for rich people rules. We have high education for everyone that wants it, but hey it can't be good if it's free, i mean you have to sign to communist party before getting in.
Expensive = good
free = crap

Interesting concept, Pekka. I like free.
Free beer rocks, as does free food.
Free, yeahhhhhhhh.

Slowwhand, Sure. On the other hand, for the money students spend on beer and food here, could almost pay for the admission in US schools. Everything else is expensive, but hey if beer is expensive here, it must be the best!
Expensive = good
Free = crap
.. and after students have to pay for their apartments, food, books etc.. damn. I think it's more expensive here

so what kind of dollar amount do you spend per year for tuition? everywhere i go, people complain that they have it the worst. obviously not everyone has it the worst, that's impossible. so when friends of mine complain about their tuition costs, i want to be able to say that kids in finland pay X amount more than you do. so throw out a dollar amount to prove how much more expensive it is there

but almost everyone takes a studentloan which they carry for years after that, because they have to pay rent etc.. low interest, but still. So everything is relative. If they'd change the system US style, it would cost the same.
edit: $30 000 per year? WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU

Oh that's expensive . But then again it's money well spent and you get good education for sure. I still think it's way too expensive for something i take for granted.. I'm thinking of taking one year in some US university for the experience, so maybe i'll get to pay some too .

Oddly enough, the American education system sucks only for K-12. We have the best colleges in the world, though.

FrantzX, best colleges? Do you have anything to back up your words!?
I'm not saying this is impossible, they very well might be the best, but is there anything to back you up? In what way? The best system? Best teachers? Best results? Best food? Best in what?
