FIRAXIS: Will PtW Have Improved AI?
Hope someone form the dev team reads this.
The title of my post may connote I'm not satisfied with the current AI, but I am actually quite please with it. That said, I think there are areas, and perhaps some common exploits (like AI civ suiciding entire army on a well defended stack) that can be fixed, and new routines added to make the game interesting.
This isn't so much a quesiton about difficulty, although it would be swell if the AI can pose even more of a challenge without cheats in REGENT, but this is a question about the AI performing human like, seemingly sentient actions. I love to see them, and perhaps some more parameters could be introduced in the XP to build on the existing routines in Civ III.

I doubt they will put much weight on developing new AI. Seems most people think the AI is far superior to all other Civ AI's, and Id tend to agree.

It is far superior, but, as any AI, can use improvements. Just look at this: while the other guys are putting new stuff in, Soren got to do something too... so he can work on extra AI routines.

anyway they can slightly upgrade some AI actions within single patches, like they did so far with 1.16, 1.17 ( more aggressive, a bit less cultural ) and 1.21 ( better use of units ).

Yeah, if Soren got the current AI as quickly as he did, i'm sure he has enough time to improve it a bit. So i'm hoping on them improving it at least slightly, maybe give it more strategys to use, and use specialized units correctly. I love the AI in Civ3 already though.

I think they won't improve the AI as soon as PtW comes out : I suppose Soren will make the AI understand the use of the new features (radars, airfields, outposts, possibly new traits)
I also think he'll try to speed up slow processes, such as pathfinding. This way, turnless mode won't suffer from slowdowns.
