A statemend only used by muslim fundamentalists and americans. It's funny how the people that claim to be each others enemies are often very much alike.

the US suprised me pleasantly in the only match i saw of them against Korea.
They are well trained, they have good stamina and they can coordinate.
strategy wise they are adequate but not very high.
maybe lack of experience is also a minus.
but they can do really a lot in the tournament.
most I know say that they expected the US team to be much more worst

I wonder where that blessing was on our previous WC teams.

We already have football, Baseball, hockey, and basketball. If we adopt any more sports we will become a country of fat lazy tv watching slobs.

Baseball is going the way of the Dodo, once they strike. I already posted this in another thread but the soccer is the second most played team sport here. However for soccer to get watched here their would have to be more scoring: Indoor (5 a side) soccer would do much better for tv.

We need to get rid of the penalty kicks endings. Much better to have overtimes (this is how NCAA does it. There was one final game that had like 4 overtimes...incredible. If time is an issue they could do someothing like reduce the number of players during the overtime or pull the goalie or something...but penalty kicks are a silly way to end the game.)

What's the point of having extra time or penalty shoot-outs in the MLS anyway? Pretty much the rest of the world doesn't have a problem with draws so I don't see why the MLS should.
In the play-offs on the other hand... i can understand that.

Penalty kicks are well-established, and give us something to rant about. To be honest, if you look at the Cameroon - Senegal game earlier this year, they could have played 20 overtimes and not scored.

I meant the penalties the MLS uses in every damn draw even during regular season. That's at least the way I've understood it works.

MLS doesn't have extra-time or penalties for ties in the regular season anymore. They have draws.

That is why you could pull a player every ten or fifteen minutes - by the time it is 3v3 I guarantee someone will score.
More scoring is bullshooot. Goals are orgasmic - they would be like kisses if there were more. 100-95 is stupid. You also want the score to be within one goal at all times - much more dramatic that way.

I think draws are fine during regular season play. For the playoffs, my complaints regarding penalty kicks remain.

Actually with indoor you run in shifts like in hockey. What I watched the penalties were also done similar to hockey, just longer.

Guess what? You are a country of fat lazy TV watching slobs
Sadly though, so are we Australia is now second only to the Yanks in obesity. One wonders how long sporting superiority can last in the midst of such rampant fatness USA is undoubtedly the best sporting nation overall, while Australia is far and away the best sporting nation per capita, but with fat kids rolling around everywhere, can it last? I saw a news story last night about an Australian rugby league team having to share a training ground with a schoolgirl sports carnival. The girls ran so slowly, it looked like they had never run before in their entire lives!!!
And another thing - what fools predicted the Yanks to win the World Cup? The WC is dominated by countries that are obsessed by soccer, and no amount of effort by the Yanks is going to overcome that any time soon. You can be good at everything, but not the best. Or in the case of the Poms, you can be good at one thing at the expense of everything else, and not that great anyway

I have a question here. Does the American football league have a league and cup competition? Or is it done the same way as those other sports where only one team can win any honours per season?

The American Football League has been defunct for several decades now. It was rolled into the National Football League as the American Football Conference. Of course that is football. With Soccer I think there is only the one championship.
