Buying a new computer is even less an option for most people than upgrading an older one, so your "Buy MAC next time" is not realistic. I live with the speeds of my computer, the slowness of the game; like I said I do other things while waiting on the AI. That is more an option that buy MAC next time or upgrade that I see so often on the boards. Many others choose not to play the larger maps; I myself tend to limit my time to Standard more, with the occasional Large or Huge.

Panag,
I completely understand what your talking about, and yes, people can always upgrade their PCs..
however, not everybody knows how to .. and more the case, not everybody can afford even £30 on extra ram .. especially if they were given the PC, and bought the game .
I personally get sick of people winging about how slow the game is when they play 16civs on a 256x256 map .. I just don't want to hear more winges at 32civs .. so by adding a tiny check, they can be pre-warned of how slow its going to go.
Now the issue of running extra things is something I wish ALL computer games would report on .. it doesn't take much on start up for the game to report to the user that there are x number of additional programs running, taking up x Mb of Ram, and this will impact on the performance ... at the least, it should be written on the box somewhere that additional programs running may impact on the performance.
I personally will even kill explorer.exe if I have to .. I do this all the time at work, when im coding using Jbuilder4 ... or MSDEV , cos Ive only got 96Mb of Ram .. and BA will not give me any more .. kind a blows the idea of memory being like water.

That's right - though I spent the money to buy extra RAM when I needed it, it's not exactly always possible for people in less advanced countries to buy a new PC every 18 months. Here we tend to use our PCs till the configuration becomes totally insane, and this is when we upgrade. That's how it goes.

Right, back to the topic - in an ideal world Firaxis would have all 32 spots free, thus allowing us to create and use our own cuvs on top of the extra ones in PTW. Will they do this? Nooo...
