Firaxis: Idea for Bonus Feature
How about including an ALL AI mode?
I for one would like to boot up a game, fill it with AIs, and watch them go at each other.

It might be fun for the first couple of times and I guess you could also figure out all the cheats that the AI uses, but when I play civ, I wanna play, not watch.

I have never made a mod of any civ-game, so correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't this be a fantastic feature for mod-makers? I create a map, wonder if the resources are evenly distributed, I set up a game over night, when I wake up I see the result and draw my conclusions. Just as great for scenario-making!!
Since they have this in their own versions it shouldn't be that hard to include in the XP, or?
Edit: spelling

Yeah. Running the game while Asleep, or away is what I had in mind. There may be some entertainment value watching the game for brief periods of time, but when I made the suggestion I didn't have watching the game in mind
You caught onto exactly what I wanted to do

FUn fun fun!!! I use to do that to scenarios in civ2...problem was the year, some of the graphics, and the diplomacy got all messed up after awhile...

Wasn't this an option in civ2? I was thinking the other day that this would be nice. I'd like to load up a game I won at 4000BC and see what the ai would have done with that starting position. See how well I did, y'know?
The benefits for scenario-building have already been mentioned.

It would be even better if they gave us this feature in the June-editor (so we wouldn't have to wait for the XP), but perhaps that's too much to ask for? But as I said, they already use it themselves, so.

They have already the needed programming code, so I see no reason why not to include it. Though I just hope they don't make it, so you only has the option to see all of the map, because it will be fun to see how they explore, built etc.

!!! I didn't know that this was a feature in Civ2!
Is this in the Civ2 expansion or the Civ2 original release?

original release. GO to cheat, set human player, choose no humanplayer, and voila!

thanks civman! hehe. I don't want to sound like I'm pompous, but I've always felt that I already had enough advantages (reload and all) so I rarely checked the cheat menu

That would be cool. It was a great way to test scenarios and AI strategies in Civ2, and would be great in Civ3

It would be nice with a comment by Firaxis in this thread, just "yes, we've read this thread" would be nice. A comment of the chance of this getting in the game at some point would be even better.

If they commented in each thread they read, it would leave them too busy. They are reading the boards, we all know. And they do read threads, but just don't want us to know it .
