It would be worthwhile following the chess system and have International Masters as well.
Just a couple of first thoughts from my relatively short perspective:
For GM:
oedo - theorist extraordinaire
Allard (spelling?) - hex ace

Yes... Xin Yu for his many indepth contributions to helping us understand the game. Nobody has disected the game better than he.
Paul... what can you say. His OCC skills and his willingness to share his learnings with us make him an auto member of this elite class.
Oedo... His discovery that government changes happen only in specific years (minus SOL that is) was incredible, and one of the best tips ever. Plus, most of us had missed this simple fact for years!
John Barbarossa... For introducing the concept of Diplo Games. (Plus, he is one heck of a player)
Kaak... The finest player I have ever crossed swords with.
There are many more...

why should a single scenario like RedFront make a bloke to a grandmaster? that's silly!

Red front is one of those scenarios that makes you feel real small the first time you play it, try it and you will understand why

I don't know that Ming is among the *best* players, but I will certainly add his name to the list for sheer overall knowledge of the game. I look at it this way. If there is any aspect of the game, he knows something about it, and that is worth a lot.

I just read about this and I am flabbergasted.
RIBANNAH
won an OCC game using DaveV's headstart scenario. posted in the strategy forum, this scenario is giving a lot of seasoned deity winners a run for their money. to see someone win at occ blew my mind to heck!

Thanks Shadowstrike!
And cavebear is correct. There are many players that are far better than I. But I win my fair share
