And, finally, Map9. The Carthaginians here are NW of the Romans and North of the Babylonians:

I hadn't thought about that before, but it is an interesting point. The Americans are literally *not* on our map! I know pretty much where they have to be, but we actually do not know where they are for sure.
The spot south of Washington is certain to be New York, New York is always the 2nd American city (I usually play as American just because of the familiarity with the city names) and Boston is (I think) the 4th (I pay less attention to the city names as the game goes on).
There is certainly a city where Foreign Minister Hydey indicated (well, a square or two NE actually) because of the irrigation. But there is a missing Egyptian city and a missing American one. We can't tell yet which is at the designated spot.
I suggest we build an explorer (or three) and search the blank land areas.
But we will certainly wrap up the Egyptian/American campaign soon, to our complete success!

We can, with the two Ironclads we have near Rome and India, take Rome, Pisae, AND Bombay, more than doubling our holdings in that region.

If we can take rome before they discover gunpowder that would de facto mean the end of romans.
I suggest we go for it.
And btw: We must send an explorer out to map the south pole.

It seems reasonble. If the romans get muskets they will spread the knowledge to the rest of the inferiors in no time. At the moment stopping our enemies from getting techs is possibly even more important than getting new ones ourselves.

1/ ROMA DELENDA EST
2/ What is hidden in the dark face of our map ? Carthagenians ? Other civ ? Only huts ?
3/ Normally, there is huts in North and South Poles too !
4/ Why no mention of our relationship with Carthago ? As we have Marco Polo's Amb,we have contacts to determine if they are at war or at peace !
5/ Babar seems weak to me, and difficult to be defended if the city is attacked by the hill ! We must discourage Indians to look at our Babar !

Carthage apparently has not even established relations with anyone. There is no indication of being at war, at peace, or being allied with anyone. They are a backwards Despotic land with 12 cities and poor units (Catapaults and Archers at best, given their techs.
Babar is a walled city on a river with 3 Musketeers defending it. It should be safe. It is just completing a Marketplace, and I will build a Dragoon next for offensive capability.

There's no mention of Carthage because we haven't contacted them.

If chartage is that far behind, we might send over the clads after we destroy the Roman and Indian coastal city's.
Better put them to good use while they still have an edge...

The Romans and the Indians independently launched sneak attacks on us while we were fighting the Egyptians and Americans. Right now, we are staying in a defensive posture concerning the Romans and Indians, until we finish with the American/Egyptian campaign.

ok 1 more question though: I know there is the issue of capturing Rome...reason--> stop them researching gunpowder.(euhm is it fact or hope that they will stop when we take their capital, never heard of that before,if not I would suggest only taking the cities out of containment and keep the rest to abuse with trade)
Aleae iacta est.

Rome is the main roman city. Taking it will not stop researching but may delay its discovering. Il's a hope, not an automatism, and we'll have to conquer the other cities to stop it and avoid proliferation as it's possible.
BTW, we say "Ale a jacta est" in my history books, thats the grammatical correct form (indicative form of the word)
Is the Rubicon River flowing between Citadel and Rome ?

The rationale for taking Rome (capital) is that the Roman civ will suffer a severe reduction in science research and therefore be delayed in discovering Gunpowder. Of course, the AI might cheat anyway, but we want to at least make things difficult for it.

hmm in that case...I would stop with the 2 cities...the AI will get gunpowder anyway if it's now or in 10 turns the effect for us will be minimal.

What kind and number of troops do we have that can strike against Rome without taking strength from out brave armies on the Americogyptican continent?

Aside from the 3 Ironclads (2 in yellow condition), we have 3 Musketeers a Dragoon, and a Diplomat in Citadel (with a Cannon being built), and 2 Dragoons, 4 Musketeers, and a Diplomat (and a Crusader being built) in New Castellon. 2 of the Musketeers and a Dragoon from New Castellon are about to enter the defensless Pisae.
Probably, we should take Rome with Ironclads and Musketeers, then bribe Neopolis (walled and landlocked). Then we can take the other Roman cities by Ironclad attack (8 active and 9 in production).
