I think Egypt would be a good choice... but people may want a militaristic civ.

Persia would be an excellent choice. Industrious gives us numerous advantages like the extra shields and higher worker efficency, and scientific ensures that we have an advantage in the tech race.

Since the strengths (read: traits) of the civs depend on map settings, I preserve my vote. Let's first clarify, at what map size we play.

I think that religious would be more appropriate than scientific... we will probably save more turns of research through 0 anarchy than the 3 free techs. Besides, cheap temples!

Hmm....But cheap Libraries/Univiersities/Research Centers would significantly boost our science, and more than makes up for the 0 anarchy. However, if we are to become a warmongering civ, then religious would be advantageous.

Tassadar, keep in mind that not only does anarchy stop research, it stops everything. Our abiltity to do a lot of things would get bogged down for several turns. Religious is so good because of that. Besides, temples are almost always the buildings of choice to grow to the next border level...

I voted Iroquois, playing on a large map with 16 civs we need the fast exploring and the temples.

Yes, but unless your a warmonger you probably aren't going to be switching too often. However, if your going to be switching from and to Communism a lot, then yes Religious is a very good and needed attribute.
My first choice is Persians, but Babylonians and Egyptians are cool too. Yes, religious is indeed a good attribute, I just find scientific to be a better one.

industrial in the late industrial era is a HUGE boost, after you get replaceable parts, your workers lay rail/roads/mines/irrigation in 1 turn (Democracy).
and plus, workers that take half the time to do jobs is an all around advantage, the road network is stronger, which means more resources/luxuries.
also, caputred workers still work twice as fast as normal captured ones, makign them a "regular" worker. great for a warmonger like myself

There is more to a civ than the balance sheet of strengths and weaknesses.

One trait must be industrial IMO.
As for the other one, I think we should decide on diddiculty setting and map size first.

It's more fun to play random! Though for this I voted for...ehmmm...just a random civ, which ended up being Japan...

Keep in mind this only applies if we don't agree on a random choice (another poll) - make sure you vote there too!

With so much intellect around I say we go for a relatively weak civ. The AI has it difficult enough as it is. So England is my choice.

I voted for Persia before I changed my mind and decided that anything is okay with me. After all, we will win.

Even if we go random, France should be excluded from the pool of possible choices. We DONT want to be pink.
