Let us first decide on the map size and then the number of AI civs.

ok...
Though I always decides the number of enemies first, since you can always play with few civs on huge map, and many civs on small map
The default number of enemies is 6...

The problem with too many enemies on a smaller map is that the game can crash.

How would you have more than 15 enemies anyway? There's only 16 different civs, and the player needs one civ

If you played using Gramphos 31 civ Tool, you could have more than 15.
While I have never had it happen (but then, I haven't tried it either), I read a comment from a Firaxian that too many civs on the smaller maps could cause problems.

Hmmmmm....70.59% for 15 enemies, while no other options has more than 5.88% of the votes...Seems like it will be a close race

We have a saying in German: Viel Feind, viel Ehr'. Meaning "Many enemies, much honour". 15 is the minimum!

Max out on whatever map size is decided on.
So if we do go with a huge map (and I'm guessing we might), 15 is definitely getting my vote.
