I for one am hesitant to go back 3 or 4 turns. This game is notoriously slow, and while there was some hope that it wouldn't be w/ the new people, this ordeal has thrown it that way again. Also, I recently managed to do a trade online w/ France, and I'd had trouble doing it w/ other players, and it seems that my computer's willingness to do online meetings is inconsistent. I'd hate to go through that again. Since we know what the cheats are limited to, can't we just give the cities back to the Barbs, or even the Spanish and keep going from this point?

That sounds ok to me. I'll just wait for the file to be posted and the game can be resumed.

Good idea. Who can do such a thing (changing back cities and so on)?

I know how to do it, but I shouldn't do it since I play in this game myself, and changing back the cities would also mean that all the passwords where deleted.

Ask Henrik he may know how to do it.
Im not that smart or I would do it for you.
Thanks for finally admitting it Ohwell. Although i must say you have a pretty weak excuse for denying your cheating in the first place.
You should have just admitted it right away. I for will always suspect you and think twice about playing with you in the future because of that. Not because you cheated but because you basicaly lied about it in public. Sorry just the way it is.
And it is not Like I did not tell you so. I encouraged you several times to do the right thing. Im glad you finally did it but you should have done it up front.

Okay Case I think the point has been made...
Boy you sure are nice. I would just love to play with you in other games.
And I thought Steve was talking about the turn when I took Bangkok, which WAS valid. The turn before was not.
If you still want me to play I will not in this game because of Ceteram's unnecesary comment.
|
This is surreal. Let me break it down for you: cheating is generally frowned upon. I never thought I'd have to say something that obvious. This 'yeah yeah yeah whatever, can we play now?' attitude isn't helping. And there's no such thing as 'kinda' cheating.

Sigh, thanks for making me waste half an hour of my time. Here goes:
There are two turns in question, 48 and 53. In turn 48 I'm 99% sure he cheated, but in turn 53 it is 100%, an absolute smoking gun. Before I go into them, here they all are, with the passwords removed, so that anyone who wants to can take a look for themselves; I would definitely like a second opinion:

|
As you all can see in the screenshot attached, the gunship in question was non-veteran and the two ISD’s are veteran. That is 19 vs 24, and the gunship won twice! Any of you can try to recreate this result, it’s downright impossible. I tried it FIFTY times without killing both Imperators. If the gunship were veteran his result would have been possible, but it clearly was not, and there were no other units in the area. A rules edit, even if it was a minor edit, must have happened here.

The cheating in this turn is totally flagrant. He claimed to have attacked with 3 gunships, losing 2. As you all can see from the screenshot and from looking at the file, there are only TWO gunships that are even in range of that stack. Furthermore, after his attack, you can see from home cities and unit codings in the screenshot (although it is hard to read since I had to shrink it ) and in the Republic savegame that BOTH of those gunships are still alive!

Another way of proving that the turn report was false is the casualty report. As you can see in both the screenshot and the files, before his attack 5 gunships had been lost in the game, and after his attack 5 gunships had been lost in the game. The turn report was false.
Now one could say that maybe the post was just propaganda, but the fact remains that it would have taken 3-8 non-veteran gunships to kill that stack (with all but the last one being kamikazes). He only had two in range, and they both survived. Cheating occurred in turn 53, period.

Since you chose to lie to us again, even after I told you I had proof (unless you claim that you ‘forgot’ cheating in that game too ), I officially don’t want to play in any games with you from now on, except perhaps ZWK since the Allies are finished anyway.

Lets do not waste our time trying to catch up where Ohwells parents missed out.
Instead we should get on with the game: He have to fix it and find a new player for France, right?
Any takers?
By the way, I'm going to Switzerland from 22/12 - 02/01,
and I'm trying to get my mobile phone and labtop running and configured so I can continue to participate directly. Otherwise, somebody'll have to play for me: JamesJKirk could you possibly do this?

Kobra might be better to fill in for you since Russia's in a different power bloc than the U.S. and could have a conflict of interest, but if you're ok with him doing it then I am.

Before I let anyone play my turn, I'll try and get that mobile/laptop connection working. Will be awfully slow though!

To whom it may concern, the discussion with Ohwell on the subject has moved here. No doubt he forgot about the Insurrection cheating.

If you guys decide to give Timbuktu and Bangkok to the Neutrals, me and someone of you guys could agree to meet online. I'll play as the french, the other as the Neutrals. I could give the fFrench cities online to the Neutrals.
Save and Exit.
Post file for the French.
Game on.

Actually it's possible to do that without two people, just use cheat mode and play as the neutrals. Reveal the map, disband the French units, and take the cities. If you don't know how to remove passwords for this kind of thing let me know, I'll PM you.

OK, according to Darius instructions (Thank you, Darius !)
this should work.
Japan is the next in line to play.
Timbuktu and Bangkok given to the Neutrals.
City improvements restored to the situartion as was at the beginning of the scenario.
Units in the cities restored as well.
NOTE: although independent cities, troops garrisonning the cities are Native Rifles, Native horses and Cannons, where applicable (sp?)
Now get a French player guys!
Bump for Japan
