Bad news I'm afraid. I had managed to get my hands on a laptop but I neglected testing if civ worked on it. Turns out the cd-rom doesn't work for some fun reason. Damn it.
So, in other words, I have perfect access to the forums but can't play civ for two weeks. (I'll be away for that time)
I'm so sorry guys.
If anyone is willing to sub for me (Germanos!) please PM me or post here. I would be ever grateful. As I said, I have internet access so I should be able to remote control anyone who subs for me.
Btw, Smaug, I forgive you

Germanos looks forward to meet Monica again!
I assume I can play this turn with the info you gave me previously since nothing major has changed since then?
I could post it today.
Pavlov, please answer the PM I have send you, since I have one question for you.

State of the Union, Januari 1870
- President Pavlov is enjoying his time at Camp David, and has transfered executive power to Vice-President Germanos. He will be in close contact with the White House, and foreign envoys can contact him directly via PM or public statements.
- A new immigration policy was declared and accepted by Congress. The US government is making investments in the import of luxeries to attract immagrants from all over the world.
- US merchants are sailing the seven seas, and the first hope to reach the European shores next month.
US border patrol
On the border with Canada some troop movements were reported. The US hopes this is just a gunning practice on an artillery range, and that the British forces will stay on their side of the border.
The US aims for Peace and Prosperaty for all.
Germanos, Vice-President.
N.B.: for Prez. Pavlovs eyes only

Turn posted.
OOC: I forgot about UK for awhile but that artillery and many other units on my turn moved because of a "go-to" command. Anyone know why this was happening?

After looking at the 1870-PBEM at civfanatics I have seen that some British units had a goto-command from the beginning. Can you shed some light on the matter, Exile?
You sure you pressed ctrl-n?

You might have missed that, ya newbie.
BTW, I sent a PM just now to Soundwave asking if he still wanted to play in this pbem. Perhaps we should give him a day or two to reply. What do you say?

I'll be busy the next day or two with moving, so by the time I'm settled in, I'll be available to play Russia again if Soundwave's still a no-show

Yes and no.
Yes;
There are indeed several British units that have goto commands at the start of the scenario. My advice is to seek these units out and cancel the command prior to moving any other units. IIRC, there are such units in; Belize, Toronto, and Adelaide. There may well be a few others, but not many.
No;
I tried to fix this, but certain units I couldn't quite fix, no idea why. Yet another unhappy compromise courtesy of the Civ2 engine.

Aww, that's a shame. How long will you be gone? If it's just two or three days we should be able to wait.
Also that would give me the chance to get home and play my turn.

I am feeling a bit bored so...
President Pavlov issues decree!
Today president Pavlov announced the Jefferson decree. (Named after Bubba Jefferson, inventor of maple syrup) The decree states the following:
1. All ocean squares two squares away from continental USA is considered our territorial waters. No foreign warships may enter these waters. Any foreign warships found in US waters may be sunk without warning. All foreign transports are excepted of course. The US navy will ensure their safety.
Also, since the UK has possessions on Bermuda and in Canada, they are excepted. We are sure that the UK won't use this exception for any foul deeds.
2. The Hawaiian islands are now considered to be inside the US sphere of influence. Any foreign military actions against Hawaii will be regarded as an act of war against the people of the United States.
That's all for now, folks! Peace!

The nation of Germany greatfully thanks Baron Von Winterfritz for assuming her duties whilst thier leader Otto Von Bismark went away on his annual holiday.
Germany was devastated to find that the Independent nations betrayed, backstabbed and cheated the German people. Germany has vowed to wipe the independent nations off the earth. Any others who wish to join this crusade are welcome, it is time the Independents payed the price for treachery.
Germany is glad that Richardovich was thwarted and thanks Russia for the warning of the Independent attack.

President Pavlov wishes Germany the best of luck in their campaign against those so called independent nations.
The president also congratulates tzar Kirkov for stopping that evildoer Richardovich. On another note, perhaps Russia could send a PM detailing the technologies they are interested in?
Note to Germanos: I'm not taking over yet, I'm just a bit bored. I'll get home on saturday so if the US turn comes up before then, you're still in charge.

Once again...
I'm back!
President Pavlov is open for business. Thank you very much for your help and advice, germanos! If you ever need a sub yourself, I'll be happy to repay the favour.
I'm eager to play now so... *cough* El! *cough*
