Extra bit of AI
Anybody think once your really big, its to easy and to tempting to build up loads of tanks and mech infantry with your mega big and production mad citys and march them through your enemys citys. I Think once you get this big, the AI gets more edgy towards you and builds alot more nukes so you end up with your own cuban missle crisis and the chance that if you declare war on a civ you end up with a few of your citys being trashed with nuclear radiation?
I think this would keep the heat up, making the game a little harder by the end of the game!

Actually, I wonder if AI tactics are in any way based on the player's actions.

hi ,

yes and no , ......

the AI learns a bit , how you have treated this or that civ , have you take this or that city when it was in revolt .
when trading , do you always ask for the last drop , ...
how do you use units , how do you react when the borders are "tested" , ..

how do you react whit a right of passage , do you use it to betray a civ , .....do you keep your end of the deal with a mutual protection pact , ......

do you go around ones in a while to say "hi" , and give a symbolic gift of lets say 5-10-25 gold , ...

do you respect their borders , ....

do you ones in a while start a war , ....

and there is a lot more , ....

have a nice day

hi ,

yes and no , give , even if they dont have money stuff like ivory and wines and so , other civs shall get upset , ...because they dont get it , ...

when they come to ask you for lets say gems , say no , when you are stronger and there is an other civ with gems , that is weaker then you , they shall "pick" on that civ , maybe go to war with it , ... even if that other civ at that time can not trade , because its in the middle of a trade agreement with an other civ , ....

have a nice day

hi ,

if you want some civs on your side , invest in giving them lets say 1-5 gold a turn , ...
and this is nice for trade , lets say at one point they get oil , and you dont have it , no problem it seems they shall prefer to trade it with you , instead of an other civ , and sometime even at a cheaper price , ...

have a nice day

I find that even when I try and get civs on my side; always keeping agreements, giving gifts, keeping them up on/exchanging tech, still, when I end up going to war with some other civ, who my 'friend' has nothing but peace with, I find nearly all the other civs become 'furious' with me, even if it wasn't me who started the war, and the one or two civs who are Polite to me never want to make MPPs or Allaiances, even when I have a way, way bigger army.

It's kind of frustrating, since the one thing I hated about Civ 1 was the crap AI.

However, Civ 1 had Historical Starting Locations, which I loved.

fault in the AI i found was when the AI has to get through your land to get to an enemy and you say "remove your forces from my land or declare war", their units are moved auto-maticly out of my land, then they walk right back through again. It also would rather do this, than simply get a boat or 2, and drop the units on the coast of the enemy!
