Morrowind experiences
I just recently rented this game for the X-Box, and a small piece of me died when I returned it.
Guess I'm going to have to buy it.
Anyways this thread is to tell about some of your experiences, and ambitions with this game.
I'm thinking I would like to create a hunter/alchemist class. Basically it would be an alchemist who prefers to find their own ingredients as opposed to purchasing them. This class would have Alchemy, Shortsword, Marksman, Light Armour, and Mercantile as it's major skills. Mercantile because they would sell their product. (granted this one may or may not stay).
What do you think?

I would go for Medium Armour over Light Armour, but other than that it looks good. Mercantile and Speechcraft go hand-in-hand in my experience: butter someoen up, then you get even better prices.

Well I figured a hunter type would be more inclined to the mobility of light armour.
As for speech craft I was thinking as a minor skill. As the hunter wouldn't really be the greatest at this, as those sligs really aren't to interested in convo.
Although I was thinking Illusion might be a good minor skill as well, cause invisibility, and chameleon would really come in handy.
I was thinking of creating a potion book through trial and error. They are probably allready out there, but I think it would be fun.

You're probably right about Speechcraft, I just love being an Imperial Pilgrim so much .
The light armour thing is what I thought, too, but if you have decent strength then go for Medium. It is far better than Light.
I have found loads of Chameleon rings, you get one worth 12000 (that is pretty useless, but still) when you do a certain quest.

I should mention that I found a more powerful one worth 246, so it is useless to me.

maybe i'm the exception to the rule, but morrowind was really great for me until i got to about level 10. after that any semblance of challenge in combat ended. which really makes me have a hard time still having fun playing morrowind. so while there are many things to do non-combat related everything in the game revolves around combat more or less(armor, swords, potions, magic, stats, quests, etc). i don't regret buying it but the gameplay really could use some tweakage in the upcoming patch for higher level characters(10+). btw, it took about 20hrs to get to level 10 for me as a warrior type character.

Yeah, Morrowind has only 3 problems.
1. The few bugs in it.
2. CLIFFRACERS
3. How easy the game becomes as you get a high level/good eq.

Big birds that constantly attack you while you walk between cities. Easy to kill but quite annoying.

They're one of the monsters you encounter while travelling. I'd say you encounter 1 every 30 seconds or less. Its not that they're hard to kill, infact once you're a decent level 1 or 2 hits wipes em out. Its the fact that there are SO MANY of them and they fly around doing dumb crap for ages. They will circle you endlessly just to try one hit from the back that probably won't even go through, its just dumb. As for the real numbers, theres over 1000 of them in the game.

cliffracers don't annoy me at all. they only seem to be really dense in the swamps/mountains. i do play with ai distance minimum so maybe that has something to do with it. i can usually see and kill them w/ an arrow before they even come after me.

I did exactly the same, only I’ve wasted too many arrows on them, and now I just use my Jinksword.

I did, and discovered I was wearing red underwear. Is this a Dark Elf thing, or do all races have red underwear?

That is a known problem for characters that level up primarily on the basis of their weapon and armour skills. Once those hit 90+ you essentially are one of the best fighters on the island. Unless someone throws debilitating spells at you (and not many do) you are going to win 1v1 or even 3v1 fights fairly comfortably. I can see Bethesda introducing some code to prevent certain skills increasing more than 2-3% per level just to stop this happening.
In the meantime, if you are unhappy with your puissance, you could consider using the editor to reduce your combat skills a little and put the points somewhere else. I've heard of others resorting to this sort of fix.

From what I understand, you can also go to jail for a couple of weeks and your skills get reduced. Lack of use makes them deteriorate.

Especially, if you have block, armor type, and a weapon type in your major or minor skills.

Ya the warrior types will level up fast in this game, I think they all have athletics as a majr or minor, so running every where really adds up.
Man taunting is hard when your speech craft is low, but heres a trick, don't give up, constantly keep taunting until the dialogue option says "good bye" which means you've succeded, and pissed em right off.
Just for those who don't know soul gems are sweet. Although I don't thimk they work on humanoid NPC's.
I'm going to create a sword that has fire damage, plus weakness to fire enchanted on it.
If you where wondering what the different types of soul gems do for enchanting, it would appear they affect the number of charges the item has.

'Goodbye' does not mean they will attack you. I usually find it best to get them to just above 20 before getting a succesful taunt. Intimidate works better with people who don't like you much. Always use Speechcraft and Mercantile together for super-cheap items.

really? they always attacked me at that point. But then again I will always draw my sword, which may antagonise them.
