Hello, last week I downloaded some maps. They were said to have correct starting locations, but I can't use them. They seem to randomize anyhow!
How do I control this? The game was never designed for these nonrandom maps I suppose... But I've heard rumors of a fix there. Can anyone help?
Which world maps (or European) is recommended for doing this?
Thanks from a sick rat in a frigate...

What maps? Marlas map comes with instructions and a program to set the starting location. You have to start the game and imediatly save it. Then you run the program so it can modify the save game file. Then you just load the modified save. You don't even have to quit Civ to do this.

Will that still work now that the save game files are compressed though? I've read that's been giving Gramphos a hard time with his editor.
After that it should work if you have the 1.18 version of Marlas Map which is on Apolyton. Now easier to find on Apolyton than Civfanatics due to Gramphos new setup for the Files Forum.
