The Thinkers Guild
As a citizens group, keeping the intellectual thoughts aflow,
is the Thinkers main goal. Therefore they travel much through the empire (preferrably to universities) holding lectures for the populace... Both with scientifical and political content.
If you feel like thinking, this is a guild for you!
A Thinker may vary from doctors, students, poets, artist, architects, inventors, and many many more....
They are mostly democrats, but eager to promote critisism and questioning the system. Usually, they are working at building libraries in every city... for the best of the intellectual empire!

I want to join the non-thinking guild. A guild who acts purely on impulse, and never thinks of the consequences.

Yeah, the traders guild... I know them! (help)
Those who cherish expensive bank-rushing and hanging around at sleazy marketplaces. They want their slice of the pie too... grotesque! No, you'd rather keep an open mind.

Thinker's Guild sounds great. If it gets enough members, we can even have a city named after it. However, you forgot research labs .
BTW count me in (super-trite phrase by now)

Oh, sure... And in that city they should build a place for us to hang around. A Great Library maybe?
Well, I'm afraid reserarch labs never will see the daylight,
since the peoples opinion in the difficulty-poll points toward Emperor and Deity! (I'm kinda concerned)

The Great Library would be we... pardon the pun, but it would be great! In my experience, it's the best wonder possible since it rockets you into the middle ages despite the fact that you're 11 techs behind everyone else. Actually, that's partly why i wanted to be India, so we could have a head start on the Library. And as far as research labs never seeing the light of day, let's force them into existence!

As a (good-intentioned ) thorn in the side of many here eg punkbass, I'd like to join - kinda as a dissident thinker. A thinker who believes we can't make things too simple in this game - it all gets complex REALLY quickly.
And as Thinkers I think all should have to justify their opinions at any point, to any challenger (kind of a mental showdown challenge).

Myself and other members of the Opposition Party (STOP) would be willing to join this Guild as a way to express our opinions and disagree with the Establishment. I would like to point out though, there is a risk in doing this. Check under your bed PlagueRat....I think we should go underground if you are still alive.
Perhaps a opposition newsletter, issued anonimously against the establishment press currently in existence. The media is the true opiat of the masses.

I'm not quite what this whole guild is about, but I like to think a lot (people tell me I do it too much), so count me in.
You mentioned various professions...I think I'll be a scientist. I could go more specific, but I'm not sure if we need to (i.e. Theoretical Physicist).

Hi, bold revolutionary... or may I call you comrade?
You will see in the presidential survey, if your right or wrong!
Why don't you start an alternative paperpress then?
"Free Apolytopnian Thought" or something...
I'd love to write an article for the radicals too.
Oh, I almost forgot...
Welcome to the joy of a free mind, earthlings!

Oh, by the way... Were you also called Archimedes?
Then I think you could start by inventing some kind of a water screw. So that the irrigations can haul water from rivers.
And... don't screw completely up, so that you get stabbed by a Roman private!

Don't you mean Egyptian private (or whatever they call their soldiers)?
As to that water screw, I don't think I could work it out myself. I'm a physicist/astronomer, not an engineer. However, I am working on a star chart for our warriors to use for direction when far from Apolyton.
And speaking of an alternative newsletter, what's the deal with the Demo letter? Is it just going to be a post, or an e-mail?

I meant Roman but that's just the real history...
Achimedes, living in the Greek Syracusae, was stabbed to death by a Roman spear.
The story tell us that the soldier was provoked by Achimedes furious response to his ignorant walking-in-the-middle-of-scientific-figures act. Our ancient "Greek geek" , living in his own "screwd" world, was of course drawing his mind-bizniz in the sand on the ground during the Roman invasion of Sicilia. (II. Punic War, if I remember right. ) His interresting war-machines (coastal defense) also inflicted severe damage to the invading Roman fleet.

Not actually... (The situation may call for changes, though?
- thinking about the recent talk about senators/peoples repr. )
Think of it as a free minded peoples movement!
The current goal is to promote the Egyptian hieroglyphs,
so that we can have a library to visit.
At least think some of us... well, everything depends one you. We are equal guild members after all.

I think we should get out a post explaining what this Guild is all about : the advancement of Egyptian science above all else. When there is a poll in which something that could effect science is concerned, we vote for the option which most benfits science.
We should also get someone in the guild to act as a science writer for either of the Apolytonian Democracy game newsletters. He/she would both update the populace on current scientific achievments in our nation (what was it called, by the way?), and voice our opinions on science related decisions, such as sacrificing research for the wartime effort, or building the Pyramids over the Great Library.
We must reinforce the populace's view of science! If we can't have a Timocracy, we should at least have a science oriented Democracy.
By the way, how does one use the Justify formatting?

Ok, I just voted for 70% or 80% science rating...
Actually, descibing advances in the press could be one of the nice ways of enlightening the people. Let's all do such things!
Formatting: I'll try html-tags.
- Dammit, didn't work.
