Would you buy LE PTW?
I don't think I would unless there were many new features or good movies about the making of PTW. I already got burned in the Limited edition Civ3 fiasco. Man, that thing sucked!

Simpleton,
Are you crazy? SM's drawers could be worth a mint sometime in the future.
Don't sell. Save them.

I'd buy the LE. I have every game with Sid's name on it, might as well get the nicer looking box.

I use the Civ3 LE tin to store M&Ms. It sanctifies them.

I have mine on display with my other boxes in my attic, hidden away from my parents. They'd throw them all away.

I don't live with my parents. I proudly display what ever silly things I wish to display...
... and I water my plants, or my mom would hurt me.

Limited Edition anything is just a gimmick to get more money. You eventually ending up wasting the money.
I don't ever buy limited edition boxes of anything. And especialy hearing how bad the Civ III LE box was, I'm surprised option 1 is in the lead.

LE/CE/D/GE/etc can be really good. The Baldur's Gate II limited edition was well worth ten extra dollars. Going back further, X-Wing and Tie Fighter collectors editions were very nice because of the extra missions. If Civ3 LE delivered what it promised, it would be more worth it.

Yes....perhaps I will take them off E-Bay and keep them stored safely away in the special chamber I build in my basement to protect them light, heat, and air. Perhaps my dreams of riches can come true after all...sometime in the not-so-distant future....

I also think this post and poll would have been moot had Civ3 LE lived up to it's billing.
In effect, you spend an extra $10 or $20 for a piece of tin and a movie you could have downloaded from the internet a few days after it came out.
No thanks.

I don't think they'd burn us again. If a PTW LE is going to suck, we'll know about it ahead of time now.

I really want to play MP but I don't think I will even buy the normal edition, much less the LE, until I get a good feed back from here at Apolyton.

So... at least six of you would be willing to buy a tin with nothing more than a paper napkin with "Firaxis" printed on it?

Money is an object. It is just that there is a lot of crap out there right now. Even with its flaws, Civ3 looks pretty ok in comparison.

i'd buy the LE PTW if it came in another tin.. i got the LE when it came out and i was quite happy with it. all i wanted was the tin and game, i could care less for all the other stuff that was or was not in the first tin.
i'd vote in the poll but i dont like any of the options.

LOL.
I misread your second sentence for a sec. THought you were watering your pants. That and your obsession with Sid's underpants had me wondering for a sec.
Now that thats all water under the belt line, I object to this poll having no banana option.
You knew someone would post about this sooner or later

I need nothing more than the game, a simple c-board box to display on my bookshelf (more boxes on that than there are books), and a big, fat manual.
Therefore, I'm not paying any extra to have a tin box, or any other junk outside the bounds of being necessary part of the game. I mean no tech-tree posters, no Firaxis notepads, no "Developer Diaries", no "Making-of" CDs or Videos.
Regular edition for me thank you. As I said, all I need is the game, manual and simple cardboard box.

I throw the boxes away.
All I need is a manual, a jewel case for the CD (not those stupid envelopes you get sometimes), and maybe a trinket, if no trinket, no big deal.

Have you guys also noticed how much wasted space is in those boxes? It's like 50% air. These companies seem to think that the bigger their box is the more people will pay for it.

I have seen some Game boxes shrink down to a 5in 1/4 X 1in 1/4 X 7in 1/2 (13.34cm X 3.18cm X 19.1cm) Messurements. I dont think that the game companies think that bigger is better. Some companies are possibly reducing there paper usage on making boxies.
