Wow.....I hardly ever see someone actually thank the programming team, instead of degrade them.
Interesting.

Well I, for one, am at Warlord!! I played Civ2 for more than 5 years and consider Civ3 to be at least an order of magnitude better!!!!
That's not to say the game is perfect, but what game is! For my part I'd like a couple of Civ2 features to be brought back (cease-fires, Senate, Civil War) with appropriate modifications, and I'd like to see 1 or 2 SMAC features make an appearance in the game (like protectorates and basing units in allies cities etc!)
All the same, I think they have done an OUTSTANDING job and would like to thank them for ALL their hard work, in spite of CONSTANT whining!!! I look forward to future patches and expansions!!!!

Civ III is an improvement from Civ II. Its not perfect I know (which nothing is), but its become the only game I play apart from SMAC.
So Firaxis, thank you.

Civ 3 is certainly my favorite game to date, so thank you Firaxis for scores of hours of enjoyment.

Refreshing to see a (mostly) positive thread for a change. I thought I was spending too much time on TBS games, but Civ3 has has raised my addiction to record levels.
I guess when PTW comes out I'll have to quit my job to have enough play time.

No wink needed. They exist, I believe.
I have posted months ago that I am convinced Firaxis has hired flacks and shills to come on these boards to promote this flawed disappointing game. I figured that out in December when fanatical defenders of a severely buggy and (at best) beta game appeared, a game that needed three major patches with even more to come. I still await scenario building, Cheat Mode, MP, and a rational AI.
I never said Firaxis isn't a master at marketing.

You're right that we needed at least 1 negative comment, Alva, but does it count when it comes from Coracle?

Civ3 is definately one of the most addictive games in a long time, a well ahead of Civ2. All in all, I am quite pleased with what I got

I think it is a fantastic game myself. It is the only game I play and have very limited time to play it. Wasted a lot of time on the weekend playing a kick ass Monarch game with my Persian champions. One of the best games I've played so far as the AI actually put up a decent challenge until I crushed them. Love Civ3 even more now.

You're convinced...because you just hate CivIII? GOOD line of thinking there.
I think the dev team should be thanking US. We're buying it.
