Who do you hope for us to meet first?
Of all the civs that could be on the other side of the jungle, who do you hope we should meet first?
and as a post-question.. if we meet whoever, how should we treat certain folk differently?
This has been a poll by the National Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

India is pretty passive (despite many horror stories of the backstabbing Ghandi ), so I vote for them.

Babylon is easy to role over and they are in our culture group, so lets pray for them!

In real life the Mahatma was a brilliant and, for lack of a better word, saintly person. In civ3 he's a backstabbing banana-hating monkey-rat! I find that Rome and/or Germany are almost always partitioned by the nations of the world, due to a war they start, and since Germany wont get it's uu until really late, i'm voting for Rome.

Do you really want us to be boxed in on our peninsula by Legions guarding the only sources of iron we can see?
Any non-militaristic civ would be good. I've always found India to be an easy Civ to handle. Babylon too.

As France is often the most friendly civ, I hope we will meet them first; except if we want to conquer/destroy our nearest neighbour as soon as possible. It would then probably better to meet the Zulus (at least easier to conquer through culture).

France is pretty friendly, so are the British, but the British are expansionists, so that can get in the way.

I don't see why it matters. What matters is whether they're powerful or not. Any civ can be powerful or weak.
Anyway, I voted Greece.

I vote we meet ourselves... as our troops end up at the other end of the planet with the 15 remaining barbarian tribes on a stick.

Meh, that'd be nice. It's not impossible, just very improbable. Comparable to the odds of my getting laid within the next... ten years.
Okay, twenty.
