Nothing got stolen and no-one was killed so yes I suppose it was. I wouldn't do it out of practice though, I doubt you'd leave your door in aber open every night on purpose though would you?

Left-wing paths selfish? Giving away some of your earnings in taxes to help others selfish? I see now...
And remember this age group includes you, Bodders.

So reddy, how are the conservatives doing in your country?

Explain me. I am young but certainly not left-wing.
Boddy, it shines right through... you really don't know a thing you are talking about.

This is the most affluent generation in British history, with the greatest set of personal freedoms ever enjoyed by anybody in this country, so I can only conclude that the younger generation are a bunch of whiny complacent fools who need a good slapping.

Or maybe we don't like Tories dictating what is good for us, or Labour giving false promises. As far as I can see section 28 is still in effect so no, I don't trust Labour.

There are two important facts you have to bear in mind.
1- Britain has never been terribly good at that patriotism thing and tends to regard the present government at any given time as interchangeable with things normally found living under rocks.
2- The favourite national pastime of the British is moaning. We weren't labelled "whingeing poms" for nothing.

Let me run the country.... (Just make sure there is a helicopter ready to take me out of there after two days so I don't get lynched)

I refuse to
Labour have been in power for 5 years, more than enough time to invoke the Parliament Act.
And don't even get me started on the Lords...

Is Parliament Act to pass something over objection of Lords? How long can they delay a bill?

I have no problem with crime in Warwickshire . As in, never, ever, at all.
Football hooliganism is hardly rampant, either--the Millwall hooligans are certainly a separate entity from the fans of that club. The worst club in this regard is Cardiff, which (at least passively) encourage hooliganism. Go to a football match not involving Cardiff or Milwall and you should be fine.

For 2 years. It originally came into effect when the King helped it through (the Lords would have blocked it in a wonderful catch 22).

2 years? That's ridiculous. Our Senate can only block for 90 days, God bless 'em...

Jon's not 100% accurate. Lords can only delay a Bill for one year. It was two, but that power was trimmed in 1968 (IIRC). Opinion is divided as to whether it's a good or bad thing - they've blocked some things that I see as good (the foxhunting bill, the Section 28 repealing) and some things I see as bad (the hasty anti-terrorist bill). So I don't know where I stand, except that they're even more parasitical and undemocratic than the Commons.

Sixchan, it seems that many British residents were unhappy primarily because of the crime situation. If this is correct, then the conclusion that the so-called right is in trouble in Great Britain is probably incorrect. It is the right, after all, that is most concerned for law and order.

You are quite right, the Tories have Labour and the Lib Dems right where they want them. Another success for Ned.

Right where they want them...riiiight....so walking all over the Tories is what they want...
If the Tories have the other two parties 'right where they want them' then how come they made a net gain of only 1 seat at the last election and their poll results have been going down ever since?

Ned? Just out of curiosity, do you come even remotely close to having something to back that up? Did you actually give it any thought before posting?

Can I just say that I wish fellow members of my nation would stop moaning just because England isnt the best place in the world to live. Why cant us British just be happy that we live in a free country, as opposed to living in a worser part of the world, and believe me they do exist!

He threatened to make new peers to outnumber the old ones. He didn't actually do anything directly in getting the bill through the Lords.

Sounds oddly familiar to when a Liberal government tried to push through a budget and the Tory Lords blocked it... Asquith (IIRC) went to the King and got him to threaten swamping of the Lords with Liberal peers if they didn't let it through.
Bless you Mr Murphy, I have learnt from thee
