Total Civ Culture
Quick question:
Does anyone know of a way to see another Civ's total culture, besides investigating each and every city of that civ and adding it up?
I only recently realized/remembered that you can see your total culture on the culture screen, and wondered if I had missed something in regard to a way to check out other civs.

Nope, not that I know of. The best you can do is either eyeball it with the graph or investigate their cities.

Maybe the answer he's looking for is what Arrian mentioned -- there is a picture of it on the graph page that you find by clicking on a tab near the bottom.

not really, it's the exact number of total culture that needs to be found. The histograph only gives an indication.
In previous installments (at least in SMAC), creating an embassy meant that you could see all of the other civs advisory screens, but while it may be good that that was not included in CivIII, it's a shame that you can't get more info. Someone's cultural overview, together with trade and the allocation of money(maintenance, corruption, science rate) would have been things I'd gladly pay a spy for...

It would be helpful, if the stats for power and culture would show up on the right hand side of the histograph, once you select them.
Now you can only get a vague indication from the histograph, and some more hints from the wonder screen and the demographics screen.

"impressed" -> less than twice their culture
"awe" -> between 2x and 3x
...
Where was that information?
And yes, it would be VERY helpful if we had numerical info. As it is, I have taken a ruler to try to measure it on the F8 culture screen.

If that was a question to me (I'm not sure), in SMAC you could "infiltrate datalinks" with a probe team (it wasn't called an embassy, sorry 'bout that). That would give you all information on the faction, and keep it available to you. You could even see all cities (which was a bit too much, if you ask me).

A ruler... the simplest solutions never occur to me. I've been measuring with my thumb, or other fingers if I needed a smaller measure unit. I'm going to buy a ruler to measure it, though (haven't used one in years)

DeepO,
I was referring to "where was that info that tells us 'impressed' means less than 2x their culture ..."

One of these days I'm actually going to have to check out this editor thingy.
Can you edit the values, and how many do you have to work with?

There are 6 statuses:
in awe of (3:1)
admirers of (2:1)
impressed with (1:1)
unimpressed by (3:4)
dismissive of (1:2)
disdainful of (1:3)
You can rename them and/or change their values. You can also add new values, which could help you to get a more accurate statement from the advisor, although I didn't try that yet.
If you have checked it out, and it improves the advisors judgement, let me know

Yeah, I think I may just edit the value and add some new ones with descriptive name (ie 3/4 of, 2x).
I think ones for:
1:4, 1:3, 2:5, 1:2, 3:4, 4:5, 1:1 and all the revese of the first 6.
Don't you have to start the game as a scenario to used the modded values though?
