The Senate. 1st Session
Hear ye! Hear ye!
Any ideas of a senate with official functions are being shot down in flames as I speak. The people are wise and they are deciding.
However, a consensus has emerged that a senate as a place for all citzens to come and beak off is a good thing. Or at least I hope it has.
So here it is. Have at 'er. 1st edition. The gods have ordained that each edition may last no more than 500 rants. Give or take a few. May we reach 100 sessions!
First order of business. Do you think this tent is well suited for our purposes? Should we look for some new digs in one of those new-fangled piles of rocks? I say no. Tradition is important. If it was good enough for our fathers...
/Edited to be coherent.

First Rant.
Who knows the answers to all of the following...
How many units do we have? Of which type?
What techs have we discovered?
What tech are we researching? How many turns till discovered?
How many cities do we have? (That's an easy one).
How many settlers? (maybe not so easy).
To shorten this... rant. Where can citizens go to find out where we are, what we know, how strong we are, etc.?
O Great Caesar. We need a better report. One that is easy to find. One that tells us all that we need to know.
There are some 150 of us now. Many are distracted by the needs of everyday toil in the jungle. All must be able to refresh their knowledge in a convenient pool of wisdom.
Someciv delenda est!

Thank you Spiffor. How many people are going to deconstruct a screen shot? BTW. Where are the discovered techs? We could have popped a hut for one.
Wouldn't it benefit all of us to have a better report?
What do you think? Skins or stone? You always disagree with me, must be stone.

You're right, I forgot the discovered techs were'nt in the screenshot.
I'd also say that Apolyton will expand its borders next turn, along with its population

I have highest respect for the traditions of our ancestors. However, we need a leap forwards to build an even greater empire. Stones will let us build stronger houses, who will stand the attacks of the elements and of our vicious enemies !
Let's face it : the world has changed, so must our way of life.

the people voted against an official senate. This thread is unofficial and has no power, it's just to debate stuff.

If you ask me, more citizens need to be made aware of the benefits of bartering at Wojit's Fine Furs and Slabs Of Meatery.
Wait... Sorry, wrong tent.

I have heard rumors of a French warrior roaming the outskirts of the Notylopian jungle... I strongly suggest NOT to engage by military means! On the other hand, they could provide us with something useful?

UberkruX got so excited at seeing a "froggie" he jerked away and broke his leash.
Ninot tried to stop him but he bit the French warrior and was shortly there-after killed with a swift blow from an axe. and we are now at war and short a warrior.
Smooth move exlax.

This is great. We finally find the end of this jungle and but instead of putting a city there, we have one in the middle of the jungle!! What is that city going to do? Nothinhg. A free settler wasted.

Hey, at least we know there's an end to this damn jungle. And, we'll probably get around to building there anyway.
The people wanted to build in the jungle. As I said in the turnchat today:

Besides, it would have taken a lot longer to move the settler over to the grassland. We get another city earlier on than we would have otherwise.

Well, since we appear to be keeping the original capitol, for now, I guess I should change my opinion to agree with Spiffor.
OK. We move from the moldering old hides into a pile of rubble, with furniture. I hope it doesn't leak. I hate getting wet.
Next order of business. Gavels. Some hawker on the street tried to convince me that his wooden mallet would be a better implement as the rod of order in the senate. I don't know. I'm rather fond of the mule's jaw bone that we have now. What do you think?

Hmm, I've always thought that the hip bone from a rhino which died from asphyxiation made a good order implement...This mallet thing, I dunno....makes me a bit edgy...

As I have said once and will say a million times again.. Timeline is not to blame.
We all had the feeling the jungle was huge. Timeline was operating under the feeling that we had to work with the jungle, because we didnt think it would be prudent to wait for an end to the jungle.. it may have been too long a wait.
We didnt find Grassland till a few turns after the city was founded. And even then, we still arent standing on grassland yet, we are looking at it from a distance.
Even tho Timeline has had some bad luck with his timing, hes still gonna have a warrior ready in a couple of turns. But where and when he placed his city honestly was the best thing to do at the time, other than wait for what may have never come (but fortunately has).
