You know, just because we set research low doesn't mean we don't have to pick our next tech.

I voted Warrior Code, we don't want War Chariots to trigger the golden age so soon. Why don't we trade CB for BW +9G with Joan? That would save us 22 turns to discover BW on our own.

How the technologies should be researched:
Alphabet
Writing
The Wheel *
Pottery
Map Making
Literature
Iron Working *
Mathematics
Currency
* Possible paths to take if the population oh so desires it.
Straight line is path, dashed is possible:

I think we should get the wheel because we are too close to jungle which reduces chances of getting iron close, there is, however the chance we wont get horses, and seeing the need for land I suggest we get chariots ASAP bc if we dont french will prob kill us

a lot of people have decided to go with warrior code (archers) becuase my jungle plan "makes no sense", and basically we're stuck in it until we conquer france. so we must get warrior code.

I did not mean low. I ment 0%. Every penny goes into buying techs. None into researching. If we do that (does not look like it at the moment ) we do not need to choose a tech. That's why.

Trading for a tech with 8 turns to go means we get the tech now, and can start a new tech research. As well as getting the benefits of that tech immediately, instead of waiting. I will even do that sometimes for a tech I will gain as soon as I end my turn, if I can buy it cheap enough.
The problem with chariots is the Jungle: where are they going to go?

I know, but nonetheless, our next tech should be decided.
