May I repeat this?
One question for Trip and Eli. Why are Workers wasting moves?
A worker moves into a grassland square. Then moves again to another square. The first square needs a road. Why not build it the first time through? It just wastes another turn moving back into the first grassland square without a road. And delays the founding of Red City by another turn as the settler crosses a non roaded square on the way to the site.
Also, Banana HQ has a cleared tile. Why not mine it and road it before moving on? Again, another turn lost moving back into the square to commence finishing it.
One last nit. BanHQ is working the unimproved grass. OK. It will grow in 2. The warrior is 3 turns away. Thus there will be 1 specialist for 1 turn. But, if we were still on the sea tile the city would grow in 3 and the warrior would be complete in 3... and we'd net 3 extra gold in the meantime.
Just little things. Maybe you have good reasons for doing these things. May I ask about them?
Would Trip and, or Eli care to reply?

It was decided upon to start clearing the jungle as soon as possible, rather than spend (what is it, 3?) turns to build a road. In the long run, yes, it may waste time in the long run, but at the current point we're not really focusing upon the long-term as much as the short term. That kind of thing is the specialty of Eli.
As far as the second part, I believe that's punkbass' realm (IIRC). Forgive me for not being so in tune with minute details like that.

2 turns to build the road. In the case of the southern worker, 2 turns have been lost by not building it while the worker was there the first time. Just pointing these things out.
1 turn for the worker that has to return, and 1 turn for the settler moving to the first city site. Then 1 turn for every unit that city is supposed to build I suppose.
I guess my point is that every turn counts at this point. As does every gold.

I just have a questison about the maps on your site Trip (and all the maps posted here on the forums as well) the layout isn´t the same as on my copy of civ... is it supposed to be like that? Because I think "your" layout looks much nicer than mine...

Yeah. It's the graphics mod by Sn00py. UberKrux also has it, so his screenshots also look the same as mine.

Apologies. The settler isn't delayed 1 turn. The workers are.

It is still a good point to bring up nye. Every little edge helps; and the only way to do well in a difficult start game is looking long term always.

I suppose it beats going to forums and beaking off at other people about what they are doing.

My friends, I know that I am only a humble citizen, and a lowly, soaked shirted historian at that, but I must say that if we want to survive, we must expand northward, or southward, and east or west, it's the only way we'll make it. This horrible jungle will only bring us misery, disease, and death. I propose that we produce settlers and spearmen to go claim the outer regions of the north, away from the terrible jungle.
This jungle is our enemy. Indeed, all it has brought us is suffering. There isn't even one bloody banana in the whole thing! There hasn't been since, well, Civ2. We must expand into better land, form a strong kingdom, or else we'll all get tanned hides.
I submit to you some of the horrors that the jungle has inflicted against our native Apolytonians. Why, just the other day, I was making through the jungle with my machete to go examine some ancient rune-stones when the path was covered by the trees and the undergrowth. A swing of the machete brought down, alas, two slaves, a neighbor's cat, and three slowly moving monkeys. It's out of control. By the time I reached the rune-stones, some old geezer was proped up against them, and was starving quickly. In an attempt to help, I ripped a large, rather appetizing looking fruit down from a tree and tossed it at him. After one bite, he spat it out, screaming bloody murder. He then grabbed his own, ugly looking fruit, and ate it with easy. The jungle deceives us! The jungle is our enemy! So, hey, let's get away from it...I don't mean we should abandon our cities here, but we should get onto better ground...It's going to take thousands of years to reclaim each patch of jungle, so it's necessary to expand to the good lands, and build a chain of cities to connect our original lands with the good lands that we must find to settle. OK? Hey! How's that?
(Meanwhile, Soldier is tossed to the local cannibal tribe)

I say we shall have to wipe out one of those two civilizations totally, otherwise we shall always retain a bad relationship with that defeated but unvanquished civilization, and it shall always be a thorn in our sides, and in the sides of the great civilizing influences of the banana that Apolytonia has always so admired. Unless we take care of our enemies totally, they shall always be there to cause us trouble...besides, a little imperial state formerely known as America would be a fine starter for our expansion into the good lands...

Perhaps, sir, perhaps!
I say, however, that the government should aim it's war efforts towards...the Americans! Yes, sir, the Americans. They are the most aggresive and potentially dangerous of the two known civilizations that haunt this steamy section of the world. The Americans are empire builders, hungry for land, and they are industrious, therefore they can produce huge amounts of fighting power, and so they must be crushed before they can muster up the unbeatable armies. The time for peace and pointless suffering in this infernal swamp has ended! Onward to empire!

Or we could follow Case Pink, which is the best plan right now... Sailing is too risky, what if we find nothing or we sink?

I sure would visit it, but I can't.
Either its down or (what I think is the problem is) our firewall doesn't allow http-requests to any port greater than 1000 or so. (Damned IT-dep. )
So Pretty Please could someone make a mirror of the site or post all the details here...
Or you could, if possible, move the site to somewhere where it is in normal http-port
